CoreStarter 1.0.1
CoreStarter 1.0.1: full mining speed on Windows in the background
Fixed
- Windows: the miner now opts out of Windows' power throttling. Windows 11 slowed it down whenever CoreStarter was not in the foreground, even on an idle PC (reported: about 1.2 instead of 8.3 kH/s on a 16-thread PC, full speed only while the tray menu was open). The miner still runs at idle priority and yields to every other program.
miner.logsays whether the opt-out worked ("Windows power throttling off").
Added
core-miner --benchon Windows measures two more variants: "Windows decides" (the behaviour of 1.0.0) and "efficiency mode".
Linux and macOS behave as in 1.0.0; their packages carry the new version number. Thanks to the user who reported the problem and tested the fix.
Download
| System | File |
|---|---|
| Windows (x64) | CoreStarter.exe |
| Ubuntu 22.04+, Mint 21+, Debian 12+ | core-starter_1.0.1_amd64.deb |
| Fedora, openSUSE | core-starter-1.0.1-1.x86_64.rpm |
| Other Linux | core-starter_1.0.1_linux_amd64.tar.gz |
| macOS 15+ (Apple Silicon) | CoreStarter-1.0.1-mac-arm64.dmg |
To update, download and start the new version: it replaces the installed one and keeps your settings and chain data.
Check your download: shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS --ignore-missing (Windows: certutil -hashfile CoreStarter.exe SHA256).
Not signed yet
- Windows: SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC" → "More info" → "Run anyway". With Smart App Control switched on, Windows blocks the file completely; CoreStarter cannot run there until it is signed. Some antivirus programs flag new, unsigned files by reputation alone.
- macOS: On first open click "Done", then System Settings → Privacy & Security → "Open Anyway".
Licence and source
GPL-3.0 with additional terms under section 7 (LICENSE, NOTICE.md). third-party-sources-1.0.1.tar holds the unchanged source of every bundled third-party part (gocore with its Go modules, RandomY, GCC runtime, winpthreads, glibc).
Feedback and bug reports: GitHub Issues or the contact form. Security problems: see SECURITY.md.
CoreStarter 1.0.0
CoreStarter 1.0.0 — first public release
Run a Core Blockchain node on your computer with one click, and optionally mine XCB. Windows, Linux (x86_64) and macOS (Apple Silicon, macOS 15+). Five languages (DE, EN, JA, NL, RO).
CoreStarter is an independent project by Tell Me More About Core (TMMAC), not an official Core app. The node is the official, unchanged gocore v2.2.2.

Before you start
Nothing is installed before you tick the consent box and click “Install and start”. The node needs about 15 GB of disk space, growing over time, and 2–3 GB of memory and connects to other Core nodes (your IP is visible to them). Mining is off by default; when switched on it uses the chosen share of your CPU, sends 0.42 % of the hash rate as support for TMMAC, and connects to the Catch That Rabbit pool. The starter itself sends no data: no update check, no telemetry.
