This patch fixes the following warnings reported by sparse, by adding missing __force annotations. drivers/staging/hikey9xx/hisi-spmi-controller.c:164:24: warning: cast to restricted __be32 drivers/staging/hikey9xx/hisi-spmi-controller.c:164:24: warning: cast to restricted __be32 drivers/staging/hikey9xx/hisi-spmi-controller.c:164:24: warning: cast to restricted __be32 drivers/staging/hikey9xx/hisi-spmi-controller.c:164:24: warning: cast to restricted __be32 drivers/staging/hikey9xx/hisi-spmi-controller.c:164:24: warning: cast to restricted __be32 drivers/staging/hikey9xx/hisi-spmi-controller.c:164:24: warning: cast to restricted __be32 drivers/staging/hikey9xx/hisi-spmi-controller.c:239:25: warning: cast from restricted __be32 Rationale for torvalds#164: data is declared as u32, and it is read and then converted by means of be32_to_cpu(). Said function expects a __be32 but data is u32, therefore there's a type missmatch here. Rationale for torvalds#239: Is the dual of torvalds#164. This time data going to be written so it needs to be converted from cpu to __be32, but writel() expects u32 and the output of cpu_to_be32 returns a __be32. In wl_cfg80211_netdev_notifier_call() we can not assume that net_device passed in actually belongs to Broadcom driver; it can be any other network device in the system. So we can not assume that we can get valid cfg pointer from it. To avoid crashing let's install individual notifiers per-cfg instances and get cfg from the notifier itself. It fixes the following crash: [ 8.801237] Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 616d6d6f63206594 [ 8.809150] pgd = ffffffc0020f2000 [ 8.812561] [616d6d6f63206594] *pgd=0000000000000000, *pud=0000000000000000 [ 8.819561] Internal error: Oops: 96000004 [#1] SMP [ 8.824444] CPU: 0 PID: 1 Comm: swapper/0 Tainted: G U 3.18.0 torvalds#239 [ 8.831664] Hardware name: Google Tegra210 Smaug Rev 1+ (DT) [ 8.837320] task: ffffffc0bc8d0000 ti: ffffffc0bc8d8000 task.ti: ffffffc0bc8d8000 [ 8.844806] PC is at wl_cfg80211_netdev_notifier_call+0xb0/0x1bc [ 8.850811] LR is at wl_cfg80211_netdev_notifier_call+0x74/0x1bc [ 8.856815] pc : [<ffffffc0006ea7e8>] lr : [<ffffffc0006ea7ac>] pstate: 60000045 [ 8.864205] sp : ffffffc0bc8db610 ...
