Torvik is a statically-typed, compiled language that produces native binaries with no virtual machine or garbage collector. It features:
- Automatic reference counting for deterministic memory management
-
Systems and OS development — raw pointers,
shapevalue structs, volatile MMIO, inline assembly, and freestanding builds that boot on bare hardware (Forge your first kernel) - Concurrency without data races —
raventasks and typedbridgechannels - Optional (
^) and variadic (*) function parameters, with call-site type checking - Networking, opt-in —
apply std::net;for a small HTTP layer with binary-safe file serving - Self-hosting compiler and tools (written in Torvik itself)
- Clean, Norse-inspired syntax (
df,check,whilst,guard,rune, etc.) - Strong focus on usability and performance
df main() -> void {
echo!("Hello from Torvik!");
}
