The following release contains a few QoL adjustments.
Adjustments
- Dependency installation via UI (ffmpeg)
- faster OS interactions for release (native process emulation for windows)
- Metadata synchronization bridging option for model cache loading in UI
- few minor QoL adjustments
- compiled with OpenGL 4.3
- made compatibel with LLVM (Compilation with LLVM disabled by default, can be enabled with the USE_LLVM=TRUE flag)
Structure and execution
The release contains the following precompiled binary files
- UI program
- Debug environment for UI program
- API
- C++ library
The ALF.zip folder contains the windows executables for the UI, the environment, and the API. The ALFLib.zip folder contains the precompiled static libraries. There is a debug and a release build for each program/library. The debug build can be identified by the suffix _d. The executables can be found in the extracted files under /tmp/build.
First Use
You can run the main application by executing ALF.exe. For the debug build, wich is running a debug console in the background start ALF_d.exe. Then you can directily import and simulate one of nine sample models, wich are included under Import.
By selecting File->Open or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O, a file dialog can be opened through which the sample models can be imported.
For the computationally intensive example 3DNonLinearExample.model (20 minutes to several hours calculation time, depending on the computer), a cache file with the calculation results is included. However, in order for this to be loaded despite the cache metadata check when opening the model, the checkbox Settings->StartUp->Ignore Cache Validation Dates must be set to True before opening.
After opening the side panel (<- button on the right side or LeftArrow key), the appearance and visualization of the results can be controlled under the Rendering tab.
