v0.12.3
Engine Dashboard v0.12.3
Fuel Rate and the Trip & Economy fuel values redraw at up to 10 Hz. If valid ECM fuel frames are slower than this, the LCD requests FEF2 at most once every 100 ms while the reading is visible. Its serial log counts valid fuel frames and requests so the actual response rate can be measured.
Trip fuel accumulation now continues when vehicle speed data is stale. A long display or storage pause no longer discards the whole elapsed interval: fuel and speed are each counted through their own 1.6-second data-freshness limit. The serial log measures fuel counted without speed, fuel recovered through long loops, and time without fuel data.
For a read-only cross-check, the LCD asks the ECM for the standard FEE9 liquid-fuel counters every 30 seconds in request mode and logs any valid response. The screen's trip fuel still integrates the FEF2 fuel rate. No automatic calibration factor has been added. The user's prior refill required 585 L while the LCD counted 525 L over the same interval; the source of the full 60 L gap has not yet been established.
The source compiles for the 8 MB Waveshare ESP32-S3 target with the isolated high-performance SDK. The app image header, checksum, and validation hash passed esptool image_info. On-device response frequency, FEE9 support, and the new counter's accuracy await OTA installation and a later same-level refill. Existing trip and DEF totals, Engine choices, Wi-Fi credentials, and scan history remain in separate settings storage.
v0.12.2
Engine Dashboard v0.12.2
When Boost Pressure is selected in Engine, the LCD requests its FEF6 PGN every 200 ms, allowing up to five readings per second on the existing 5 Hz Engine screen. When only Charge Air Temperature is selected, the previous 1 Hz missing-frame request policy remains. No boost requests run outside the Engine page or when Boost is unselected.
The Engine serial log reports cumulative FEF6 requests and received frames to measure the ECM's actual response rate. Five requests per second do not guarantee five ECM replies or five distinct sensor values.
The user confirmed the v0.12.1 OTA release displayed plausible values for Boost, Battery, Intake Air, and Charge Air. The v0.12.0 Driver Command and Actual Torque cards and smaller house/Zzz icons were also confirmed working. This v0.12.2 cadence change awaits an on-device response check. Saved Engine choices, trip/DEF totals, Wi-Fi credentials, and scan history remain in separate settings storage.
v0.12.1
Engine Dashboard v0.12.1
The four new Engine choices in v0.12.0 all showed -- on the LCD, although older engine gauges and the Trip & Economy torque gauges were live. This update requests the relevant ECM PGN when a selected Boost Pressure, Battery Voltage, Intake Air Temperature, or Charge Air Temperature window has received no complete frame for 2.5 seconds. Requests are limited to one per second per PGN and stop while fresh frames arrive. The LCD can enter its existing request mode when one of these new fields is selected and missing.
The Engine serial log now includes last receive and request ages for FEF5, FEF6, and FEF7. This identifies unanswered requests if a reading remains blank. An unavailable FF Intake Air field still shows --.
v0.12.0's separate driver-command and actual-torque cards and the smaller house/Zzz icons were confirmed working on the LCD. This corrective app image awaits an on-device request-and-reply check. The update preserves saved Engine choices, trip and DEF totals, Wi-Fi credentials, and scan history.
v0.12.0
Engine Dashboard v0.12.0
Engine now offers Boost Pressure, Battery Voltage, Intake Air Temperature, and Charge Air Temperature as four new choices for its six configurable windows. Previously saved window choices keep their existing parameter numbers. The twelve-choice picker uses a three-column layout.
Trip & Economy has a second row with Driver Command and Actual Torque as separate percentages of engine reference torque. The fuel, economy, trip, and DEF counters keep their existing reset behavior. The house and Zzz drawings are smaller while their touch areas remain unchanged.
These readings use ECM broadcasts observed in the archived truck capture. That capture marks Intake Air Temperature unavailable, so that window will show -- unless the ECM starts reporting SPN 172. See ENGINE_SIGNAL_EVIDENCE.md in the source repository for byte mappings and limits.
The app image is built and validated, but the new screen layout and readings await an on-device check after OTA installation.
v0.11.0
Engine Dashboard v0.11.0
The header now uses a house icon for Home, a back arrow on nested pages, and a Zzz icon for backlight off. The existing touch areas and touch-to-wake behavior remain.
The Aftertreatment gauge title is now NOx. A new hold-to-reset button inside the UDA estimated-rate card clears only the accumulated DEF estimate. The Trip & Economy reset clears only trip distance and fuel used. The footer labels the estimate DEF.
All existing gauge decoding, manually requested fault scans, Wi-Fi updates, and global DIM behavior remain available.
v0.10.2
Engine Dashboard v0.10.2
Diagnostics now sends fault-read requests only when SCAN ALL or REFRESH is tapped. The AUTO button and repeat timer are gone. Opening Diagnostics, switching tabs, and changing module no longer start a scan. A manually completed five-category scan can still save a History snapshot, and passive fault broadcasts remain visible.
The Engine guidance reads TAP WINDOW TO CHOOSE PARAMETER. Aftertreatment shows NOx throughout its visible labels. The Home Update card now reads WI-FI FIRMWARE without the GitHub reference.
The v0.10.1 startup fix, Wi-Fi update behavior, trip counters, and global DIM remain available.
v0.10.1
Engine Dashboard v0.10.1
The three Aftertreatment gauges now show their values, units, and freshness without the PGN and source-address captions. The dashboard still reads the same NOx and DEF reports internally.
Wireless Update no longer checks vehicle speed or engine state. Holding INSTALL for two seconds still starts a checked download and app-only update; the display restarts when installation completes.
The app installs the GPIO interrupt service before panel initialization. This targets an intermittent ipc1 stack overflow observed when v0.10.0 registered the touch interrupt during boot. The trip, fuel, and estimated DEF totals from v0.10.0 remain saved.
v0.10.0
Engine Dashboard v0.10.0
The Home footer now shows trip distance and fuel used on the left, with an accumulated DEF EST total in litres on the right. CAN labels and the frame count have been removed from the screen. The Trip & Economy reset hold clears distance, fuel, and estimated DEF together; existing saved distance and fuel totals migrate into the new record.
The DEF total uses the UDA's reported estimated dosing rate every 200 ms, including while another screen is open. It is an estimate, not measured delivered fluid. The v0.9.1 Wi-Fi network switching repair and the existing Engine, Aftertreatment, Diagnostics, and DIM features remain available.
v0.9.1
Engine Dashboard v0.9.1
This update repairs Wi-Fi changes when the previously saved network is unavailable. The network picker now always opens, even if a scan fails, and keeps Rescan and Enter Network available. The LCD stops the old connection attempt before scanning and retries if the radio is briefly busy.
The Update page identifies connected, connecting, and offline states. A new password is saved only after the LCD connects to that network, so a failed attempt leaves the earlier saved network intact. The v0.9.0 Aftertreatment gauges and other dashboard pages remain available.
v0.9.0
Engine Dashboard v0.9.0
The Aftertreatment folder now shows outlet NOx in ppm, ECM requested DEF rate in mL/min, and UDA estimated DEF rate in mL/min. It listens to existing CAN broadcasts and shows waiting, unavailable, and stale states instead of keeping old readings. The UDA figure is an estimate, not measured delivered flow.
The existing trip collection, Engine windows, Diagnostics, wireless updater, and global DIM/touch-to-wake are retained. The firmware does not send any new dosing command. Install only while the vehicle is parked and the engine is off, as enforced by the Update screen.
The release image is for the Waveshare ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-7 with 8 MB flash, using the existing v0.8.3 OTA partition layout. The saved CAN captures include a nonzero outlet NOx reading, but no nonzero DEF dosing rate; those two rates require live confirmation after installation.
