@github-actions github-actions released this 16 Sep 01:23

Holmes now asks you to sign in, and this is the first installer built from today's work.

Download Holmes.dmg, open it, and drag Holmes into Applications, replacing the previous copy.

Accounts

  • Holmes asks you to create an account or sign in when onboarding starts, and again at launch if you are signed out. Settings shows your email with a Sign Out button.
  • Signing in records your email, the Mac's Region setting, macOS version, Holmes version, and Mac model. Holmes also checks in once a day so installs can be counted. Everything else still happens on this Mac, and the onboarding text now says exactly that.

Email

  • Holmes predicts the email you are about to write from the thread, the people you are writing to, your calendar, recent mail you sent that person, and what it remembers, then writes it into the composer. It never sends.
  • One click undo puts back whatever was there. If you already typed something, Holmes offers a review card instead of writing.
  • It can offer to add a calendar event, save a draft, set a reminder to follow up, or fill an empty subject. Each one asks first.
  • Gmail drafts keep their line breaks, signatures and quoted replies stay untouched, inline replies are recognised, and Outlook and Proton composers work too.

Tasks that finish, or say why not

  • Starting a task no longer breaks the stop button for one already running, and approval cards wait their turn instead of cancelling each other. Unattended approvals time out rather than blocking everything.
  • Clicking and typing report success only when they worked. Emoji type correctly, the clipboard is restored properly, and the confirmation gate checks the control that actually matched, so a vague request cannot reach a Send button.
  • Model replies wrapped in extra text are still understood, a stalled request is detected instead of hanging for ten minutes, and a dropped connection is retried once.

Browser extension

  • Tabs that were already open reconnect after the extension updates, and commands still arrive when Chrome puts the extension to sleep.
  • Large results no longer look like timeouts, the same command cannot run twice, several browsers can stay paired at once, and error messages say what actually went wrong.
  • Reload the extension at chrome://extensions after updating, then refresh your mail tab.

Also

  • A short launch video plays the first time Holmes opens.

For Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. This build is ad hoc signed and not notarized, so if macOS blocks it, right click Holmes in Applications and choose Open once. INSTALL.md in the repository has the full first launch steps.

Checksum files are included. Verify the download with shasum, checking Holmes.dmg against Holmes.dmg.sha256 with both files in the same directory.

@nandanp1 nandanp1 released this 13 Sep 21:22

A fresh installer containing the current email drafting, onboarding, and guided demo changes.

Download Holmes.dmg, open it, and drag Holmes into Applications, replacing the previous copy.

  • Automatically prepare a reviewable email draft from a subject or existing notes after you pause typing. Existing text stays intact until you approve replacement; Holmes never sends the email automatically.
  • Show queued, working, cancelled, and failed tasks in the notch, including actionable browser compose connection errors.
  • Refresh onboarding permission status while the permissions screen is open and when returning from System Settings.
  • Include the guided demo after onboarding and browser extension 2.2, exported to ~/Downloads/Holmes Extension during setup.

Existing extension users: reload Holmes at chrome://extensions, then refresh Gmail. The reported browser issue has not yet been verified end to end in the user's Chrome session.

For Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. This build is ad hoc signed and not notarized. Follow the first launch instructions if macOS blocks opening it.

Built from commit 4a9db5b6f97ad891fd371b6ec0125e0ecae75f31 on fix/email-drafting-and-work-status. PR #27 is awaiting code-owner review; these changes have not yet merged into main. GitHub build and advisory lint checks passed. Local drafting regressions and a sickness-email test using the installed local model passed.

SHA-256 sidecars are included. Run shasum -a 256 -c Holmes.dmg.sha256 with both downloaded files in the same directory.

What's Changed

  • Revise README for updated Holmes description and features by @Rouler4wd in #24
  • Add a guided demo after onboarding by @nandanp1 in #23

A fresh installer with the latest Holmes Local fixes.

Download Holmes.dmg, open it, and drag Holmes into Applications. The app includes the browser extension; onboarding prepares it in ~/Downloads/Holmes Extension for Chrome's Load unpacked step.

  • Remote MCP servers that answer over SSE now complete as soon as the response arrives instead of waiting for the request timeout; the open connection is released right away.
  • Every remote MCP request has a 120 second deadline, so a stream that only sends keepalives can no longer stall a tool call forever.
  • Notifications to remote MCP servers wait only for the headers, error pages are read to a bounded size, and content types in any letter case take the streaming path.
  • Repository hygiene: code owners, pull request and issue templates, and branch protection on main.

For Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. Ollama and the selected model are configured during setup.

This build is ad hoc signed and not notarized, like 0.1.1. Follow the first launch instructions if macOS blocks opening it.

SHA 256 sidecars are included for both DMG filenames. With the DMG and its .sha256 file in the same folder, run shasum -a 256 -c Holmes.dmg.sha256.

A fresh installer with the latest Holmes Local fixes.

Download Holmes.dmg, open it, and drag Holmes into Applications. The app includes the browser extension; onboarding prepares it in ~/Downloads/Holmes Extension for Chrome’s Load unpacked step.

  • Microphone capture follows physical Fn holds and stops on release.
  • Native app requests correctly open Spotify and Messages; helper extensions are excluded from app matching.
  • Notch content clears the camera housing, and model settings refresh reliably when configuration changes.
  • Translucent glass backgrounds and shared LT Remark / Geist typography return across the app.
  • The app icon preserves the mascot’s proportions, and the README title uses the updated font.
  • Installer versions match the app, and checksum files can be verified from the download folder.

For Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. Ollama and the selected model are configured during setup.

This build is ad hoc signed and not notarized, like 0.1.0. Follow the first-launch instructions if macOS blocks opening it.

SHA-256 sidecars are included for both DMG filenames. With the DMG and its .sha256 file in the same folder, run shasum -a 256 -c Holmes.dmg.sha256.
