Terrain Elevation 0.1.4
The first public release of Terrain Elevation, an add-on for Zenith (Factorio in 3D). It draws hills under the factory. Only the drawing changes: Factorio itself stays flat, and nothing this add-on does changes the game.
Install: Zenith 0.1.2 comes with it already, switched off: turn it on in Zenith's Add-ons menu. To install it yourself, download terrain-elevation_0.1.4.zip and drop it, still zipped, into Zenith's addons folder (next to Zenith.exe, or %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Zenith\addons\). Needs Zenith 0.1.2 or newer (add-on API 1.2).
What it does
- Gentle hills and valleys, the same every time for a save and planet
- The ground slopes down to lakes and the sea, so water keeps its level
- Factorio's cliffs as real steps: the high ground stays level right up to the rock, and a ring of cliffs stands up as a plateau
- Where a cliff is blown up, the step opens into a slope
- The ground is levelled under buildings (2 x 2 tiles and larger), with neighbours sharing one floor; belts, rails and pipes follow the ground
- Buildings, belts and their items, ghosts, wires, icons and the mouse all follow the hills
Settings (on its page of the Add-ons menu): hill height, hill size, small bumps, flat ground by water, cliff height, and levelling under buildings.
Early development: expect rough edges. The hills don't come from Factorio's own elevation yet, they change at once when new water, cliffs or buildings load, and the add-on is off on space platforms. Reports are welcome on Zenith's issue tracker.
