What's new in v0.1.2

A fix release for installing and updating.

Fixed

  • ZIP updates no longer stall. Updating with Install Plugin from ZIP
    File
while monoink was running could stop part-way, leaving Decky's
install dialog spinning. monoink now runs a private copy of its program,
so Decky can always replace the plugin's files during an update.

Updating from v0.1.1

Update once using Install Plugin from URL (the link below). A ZIP update
from v0.1.1 can still stall, because v0.1.1 itself has the old behavior;
from v0.1.2 onward, either method works.

If a link install seems to hang for a minute or two at the start, leave it
running: Decky first reports the install to its own plugin-store server and
waits for it even when that server is slow.

Documentation

  • The README's status line no longer names a specific version; see the
    Releases page for the latest.
  • The install guide and privacy page cover the above.

Install or update

  1. In Gaming Mode, open Quick Access (⋯) → Decky → ⚙ Settings, and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Decky → Developer → Install Plugin from URL:
    https://github.com/v1k0d3n/monoink/releases/latest/download/monoink.zip

What's new in v0.1.1

Dark mode

White on black for every screen. Photos and cover art keep their normal
tones. Turn it on under Screens → Dark mode.

Screens

  • Clock: year progress. "Day 280 of 365 · Week 41" with a progress bar
under the date (toggle under Clock & weather). (#4)
  • Game: session time. How long you've been playing appears on the Game
screen and the dashboard while a game runs, updating every minute. A new
Session timer layout shows it as a large clock (Screens → Game screen
    layout
    ). (#2)
  • Game: controller indicator. A gamepad icon appears next to the title
while a controller is connected, within seconds of turning it on or off.
Works with Steam Controllers on the wireless puck and with USB and
    Bluetooth pads. (#3)
  • Performance: RAM history. Memory joins CPU and GPU on the 30-minute
graph, with a legend that matches what's drawn. (#5)
  • Performance: history survives restarts. The graph no longer starts
empty after a plugin update, Decky restart or reboot, and gaps (such as
sleep) show as breaks instead of joined lines. (#6)
  • Calendar: week starts on your region's day. Automatic uses your
system's region setting (Sunday in the US, Monday in most of Europe,
Saturday in much of the Middle East), from the official Unicode CLDR
data; you can also pick Monday, Sunday or Saturday. Nothing is looked up
    online. (#8)
  • Photo frame: fill the screen. Crop photos to fill the whole display
instead of showing them whole with bars. (#10)

Privacy and transparency

  • New privacy page:
everything monoink reads, stores and contacts, what it never does, and
    commands to verify it yourself.
  • The service log is now readable only by your user account (it contains
    your display's Bluetooth address).
  • Every network request now identifies itself as monoink.

Smaller improvements and fixes

  • On an idle machine, the CPU and GPU lines on the Performance graph no
longer disappear into the graph's border.
  • A new game's session reads "Just started" instead of "0m".
  • The dashboard's game column no longer overflows into the system stats.
  • New screen gallery
showing every screen in light and dark mode.

Upgrading

Install the new version the same way as before. Your settings are kept. A
"Week starts on Sunday" choice is kept; otherwise the calendar switches to
Automatic.
