The first public release of Serain: a personal AI agent for exactly one owner, whose only interface is iMessage, running 24/7 on your own server.
What's in it
- Chat over iMessage through Photon, in the language you write in, with tapbacks instead of messages where that is enough.
- Mail: IMAP and Gmail, PDF attachments in a sandbox, cleanup of newsletters and spam with one preview for the whole job, sending only after you confirm the exact recipients and text. Nothing is ever permanently deleted.
- Calendar: iCloud (CalDAV) or Google Calendar.
- Reminders, scheduled tasks and watchers.
- Web research with a separate executor model that never sees your mail or memory, and link previews only of pages it actually opened.
- Videos (YouTube; optionally TikTok, Instagram, X).
- Memory with provenance, a nightly-consolidated model of you, and learned procedures.
- Voice messages in both directions, transcribed and spoken locally.
- Optional: web interface on Cloudflare Workers behind Access, Mac companion for Apple data, connectors.
Security model
Every tool has a level (read, write_reversible, irreversible, money). Anything irreversible waits for your 👍 on a preview built by code from validated arguments; anything that costs money asks every time. serain stop locks every tool until serain resume. Code runs in a Docker sandbox without network. Details in the README and SECURITY.md.
