Easel Studio 0.0.9
Easel Studio 0.0.9
Use saved images, source audio and reusable video frames to guide generation,
with prompting guidance from the selected model.
- Retrieve model-specific prompting guides from the configured Easel server and
apply their format and reference guidance to image and video prompts. - Supply saved source audio for supported video models. The client preserves
requested audio and image conditioning through validation and cancellation. - Extract and reuse video frames as saved image references, with timestamps and
geometry checks before generation. - Guide H3 video with saved semantic images and ordered temporal frame groups.
The client validates the selected model's reference counts, frame positions,
dimensions and image pixel limits before uploading each reference role. - Improve timeline playback and media preloading so active clips remain available
under cache pressure.
Model guides, source audio and H3 reference modes depend on the capabilities
advertised by your configured Easel server. Start a fresh agent session after
updating to load the new tool schemas.

Easel Studio 0.0.8
Strudel gets an offline drum bank, support for attached audio samples and fixes
for WAV export. Export WAV and Cycles now sit in the top toolbar.
- Play and export seven bundled drum samples: kick (
bd), snare (sd), closed
and open hats (hh/oh), clap (cp), tom and rim. The original samples are
generated reproducibly and work without a network connection. - Attach short WAV, MP3 or M4A audio from Media, including Suno output, and register
it withEaselStrudelSamples.add('sample_name', 'MEDIA_ASSET_ID'). Keep that
registration in the score so it works after reopening. Adding samples and
evaluating an updated score preserve the live audio context. - Use Suno M4A output directly for playback and WAV export, without conversion
or generating the sample again. Agent guidance checks older kit capabilities. - Export native kick/noise sounds and registered samples with the correct
envelopes, including full attack-only sample tails. Exports also work when
the playback device runs at 44.1 kHz. - Keep live media attachment working after canvas fragment navigation, without
forcing a source reload. - Explain unavailable sample features when adding a new template to a project
with an older pinned Strudel kit; synth examples remain usable. - Prevent the syntax-highlighting overlay from overflowing the Strudel editor
while resizing to a narrow canvas.
Create a new Strudel project from Templates to get the bundled drums. Existing
projects keep their authored source, media and pinned kits.
Attached samples support mono/stereo WAV, MP3 or M4A, up to 10 seconds and 4 MiB each.
The duration limit uses decoded audio; AAC padding can put a nominal 10-second
sample over that limit. Request at most 9 seconds for generated one-shots.
WAV export supports 1-16 cycles and up to 30 seconds, with at most 16 sample
names and 8 MiB of sample input. Remote banks, effects, and sample pitch, speed
or slicing remain outside the supported WAV export subset.
Version 0.0.8 also retains the Windows template and timeline storage fix from
0.0.7.
What's Changed

Easel Studio 0.0.6
Easel Studio 0.0.6
Create music through Suno, follow background media jobs, and build a Strudel
score in a simpler live editor.
- Enable Suno music, speech and sound generation through configured Media models.
Studio follows accepted tracks, downloads completed audio, and saves it to
Media with the track's title and an audio icon. - Follow generation and download progress in the Jobs tab, with cancellation,
persistent status, and completion notifications. Media and Jobs share a
consistent tab row and search layout. - Use the Strudel interpreter with syntax highlighting, Run/Stop, selection
execution through Ctrl+Enter, and a collapsible reference panel. Examples show
their code; Add & run adds a layer to the score instead of replacing it, and
updates ongoing playback on the same clock. Bundled synths and worklet effects
work offline. Reopening a project stays silent until Run. - Improve template selection, back navigation, toolbar labels, file-tab edges,
History spacing, drawer transitions, and the divider between chat and canvas.
Remove the video editor shortcut from the main toolbar. - Include the media onboarding, offline canvas, and Strudel work merged in
PRs #15, #16 and #17. Existing projects retain their authored source; fresh
Strudel instances use the updated editor and example controls.
Website sample banks are not bundled. WAV loop export remains limited to the
supported native synth patterns; it does not export arbitrary effects or samples.

Easel Studio 0.0.7
Easel Studio 0.0.7
Fix template creation and video timeline saves on Windows. Version 0.0.6
could fail with EPERM: operation not permitted, fsync when creating a video
or Strudel template because its temporary storage files were opened read-only
before flushing them to disk.
- Open temporary template registry and timeline files with write access before
flushing and committing them. - Preserve atomic saves and error recovery when a disk write or flush fails.
- Reject whole-drive media output roots on Windows.
Install 0.0.7 over your existing installation, then retry creating the template.
Your saved projects remain in the app's existing data folder.

Easel Studio 0.0.4
Easel Studio 0.0.4
New installations now open a setup wizard to choose an agent, add credentials or sign in, and prepare a chat model before creating a canvas.
- Built-in setup enables the selected chat model and makes it active. Codex setup checks account sign-in and model selection; External MCP setup checks that a controller is connected.
- Skip setup, resume an unfinished setup after restarting, or reopen the wizard from Settings. Existing configured installations keep their workspace on launch.
- Fix model dropdown interaction inside modal dialogs, including mouse focus and option selection.
- Integrate the Easel media guidance from PR #4: prompting, continuity, audio and camera planning, a pinned LoRA catalog, and clear limits for currently exposed media tools. The server/GPU migration remains a documented follow-up.
This release includes the packaged Media MCP dependency fix and startup verification introduced in 0.0.3.
What's Changed

Easel Studio 0.0.3
Easel Studio 0.0.3
Fixes a packaged-app startup failure that prevented chat from connecting to the Media MCP server with ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND for @modelcontextprotocol/sdk.
- Unpack the Media MCP runtime dependencies beside the server so ES module imports work in installed Windows, macOS, and Linux apps.
- Verify the packaged server can connect, discover its tools, and list models using isolated packaged files before publishing desktop downloads. The macOS startup check runs after signing.
Windows EXE/ZIP, signed and notarized macOS DMG/ZIP, and Linux AppImage/DEB packages are provided by the release build.

Codex and media
- Enable Codex's tool host and connect Easel MCP before starting a turn, including restored conversations.
- Use native Codex image generation alongside configured Easel image and video models. Requests for a named endpoint use its model ID from
list_models. - Keep an already loaded Codex thread between turns and return a structured media model list.
- Restore saved live screenshot previews in chat and preview canvas recordings when captured.
- Show when media is already saved and the agent is preparing its follow-up reply.
- Keep accepted media jobs downloading after Stop without automatically restarting the stopped agent turn.
- Keep media labels visible and clickable in assistant replies; avoid empty lists after preview captions are assigned.
- Remove the 32 MiB total project media cap and check available disk space before saving images, recordings, and project data.
- Return media references newest first with timestamps, and guide native image lookup to the shared library.
- Share concise harness instructions across agent backends, reuse known model IDs, and remove duplicate provider polling guidance from queued job receipts.
- Acknowledge generated media with its automatic inline preview instead of ending replies with a View or Watch link.
- Let video endpoints choose their default size when dimensions are omitted; reference-image dimensions do not determine video dimensions.
Workspace
- Use the outline SVG easel mark in the app header, desktop windows, installers, and Windows, macOS, and Linux packages.
- Use one viewer tab row, with a trailing + for new HTML canvases and a status dot beside each document title.
- Open the Files drawer by clicking the selected document tab. Project ZIP download, Undo, and document device settings live in the drawer.
- Replace chat and media action labels with accessible icons and consistent spacing.
- Sort project media and the shared library newest first using media timestamps.
- Show a spinning Media icon badge while media jobs are queued, generating, or downloading, across projects.
- Choose available kits while creating a project; new HTML canvases inherit its kit selection.
Canvas tools
- Return compact source contracts and omit media manifests from file listings by default; full diagnostics remain available through
inspect_canvas. - Return saved source paths and revisions from
present_canvasso agents can edit extracted scripts and styles directly. - Guide agents toward bounded source reads, atomic edit batches, and one reload and capture with validation.
- Guide p5 sketches toward bounded mount sizing so responsive canvases do not overflow or grow their own containers.
- Report enabled kits in canvas-creation receipts and return targeted corrections for duplicate document paths and blocked CDN dependencies.
- Validate source references in every HTML document before committing edits, including atomic patch batches; missing kits direct the agent to user enablement.
- Clarify that tools must execute before a final completion reply and that JavaScript media uses saved asset placeholders or the offline resolver.

Getting Started
Add an endpoint and key in Settings > Credentials, refresh its models, and choose an agent model in chat. Media generation uses the enabled media models from your endpoints.
For external agent control, select Settings > Agent > External MCP and use its connection instructions. For embedded Codex, install the official Codex CLI, select Codex, and sign in with ChatGPT. See the README for setup and canvas contracts.
The macOS packages are signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Windows packages are unsigned. Canvas content runs offline with local assets; audio playback and device access require a user action. API generation requires your own configured service.
