v0.1.0-beta.2 — preset backup and restore

What's new

• Preset backup and restore. The app now backs up all 80 presets and their EQ before every update and offers to restore them afterwards. Only the presets that changed are written back, and the result is read back to check it. You can also save a backup to a file and restore it at any time (Presets card).
• "Already up to date" check. The Pocket AMP does not reinstall the firmware version it already runs. The app now says so before starting instead of failing after a few seconds.
• Safer closing. Closing the window while the pedal is being written asks for confirmation first.
• Linux AppImage (Pocket_AMP_Upgrader-x86_64.AppImage): chmod +x and run.
• App icon on all systems; on Linux the title bar follows the dark theme.

Tested on a real pedal (Linux)

• Detection, and preset backup: identical, byte for byte, to an independent backup tool.
• Preset restore: a round trip on P80 was written, read back and restored; the pedal ended identical to its state before the test.
• Update protocol: same request sequence as the prototype that updated a real pedal from V1.03 to V1.05. A full update by this app is still waiting for a new firmware version, since the pedal refuses to reinstall 1.05 over 1.05.
• Windows and macOS: still waiting for testers. Please send a report.

First public beta of Pocket AMP Upgrader: update the M-VAVE Pocket AMP firmware over USB from Windows, macOS or Linux.

Before you update

• Back up your presets. The V1.05 update was seen overwriting P01–P05 and P80 and resetting their EQ.
• Charge the pedal, use a USB data cable, and do not unplug it until the app says it is done.
• A pedal left in update mode by an interrupted update can be resumed from the app.

Status of this beta

• Linux: pedal detection tested on real hardware. The update procedure is the same one a Python prototype used to update a real pedal from V1.03 to V1.05, and it is covered by tests against a simulated pedal.
• Windows and macOS: builds are ready but not yet tested with a real pedal.
