Crash fix (BRAT beta)

Desktop-only prerelease. Not a stable Community Plugins release.

Fixed

  • Obsidian crashed when PlayStation sign-in was started from Settings. Obsidian 1.14 shows Settings in a separate window; creating the embedded sign-in browser there terminates Electron's main process, closing the whole app.
  • Game Sync now never creates the sign-in browser outside Obsidian's main window. When you connect PlayStation from Settings, Game Sync closes Settings and continues sign-in in the main window automatically. Quick Setup was not affected.

Verification

  • The crash was reproduced in an isolated Obsidian 1.14.4 profile along the exact reported path (Settings → Accounts → PlayStation → Connect → Sign in to PlayStation). Its stack matched the user's crash report frame for frame.
  • With this build, the same path, including a real (trusted) mouse click, keeps Obsidian running and loads the Sony page in the main window.
  • 591 tests passed, 1 skipped; lint, typecheck, build and release gate passed.

Real Sony sign-in, MFA and automatic synchronization with a real account remain unverified. See the 26.10.1 notes for the rest of the PlayStation changes.

Update

Update voi-tech/obsidian-game-sync in BRAT, or select 26.10.2 for a pinned installation. Back up your vault before testing.

PlayStation connection fix (BRAT beta)

Desktop-only prerelease. Not a stable Community Plugins release.

What changed

  • PSN authorization, token refresh, library and trophy requests now use a scoped native HTTPS transport instead of browser fetch. This fixes the browser Cookie-header/manual-redirect mismatch.
  • The default connection flow is Sign in to PlayStation → sign in on the Sony page → Finish connecting, without copying a session code.
  • Code copying remains available only in Advanced: manual connection if Sony rejects embedded sign-in.
  • The sign-in window has a separate non-persistent memory partition, sandbox/context isolation, no Node integration and no popups. Its cookies may remain in memory until Obsidian closes.
  • Session reads are invalidated by navigation changes. Account-settings save failures can be retried without signing in again.
  • Fixed URL-safe session-code validation and termination of streaming HTTP error/redirect responses.

Verified and still unverified

Local checks passed: 587 tests passed, 1 skipped, lint, typecheck, build and release gate.

Native request behavior was exercised with real local-server integration tests. Inside isolated Obsidian 1.14.4, a synthetic account completed the connection modal, refreshed its session and fetched a fixture game. A fresh embedded browser also loaded the public Sony/PlayStation website.

Real Sony sign-in, MFA and subsequent automatic synchronization with a real account have not been verified. Sony can restrict embedded browsers or change its unofficial endpoints. Windows/Linux and the declared minimum Obsidian version still need testing. This beta is intended for that verification, not a claim of full authentication readiness.

Update and test

Update voi-tech/obsidian-game-sync in BRAT, or select 26.10.1 for a pinned installation. Open the PlayStation connection dialog and use the new sign-in button. After signing in on the Sony page, select Finish connecting.

Background note updates still require explicit background-sync write approval. Back up your vault and review a sync preview before applying it. Do not share NPSSO values, tokens, login codes or unredacted network logs in bug reports.

BRAT test release

This is a desktop-only prerelease, not a stable Community Plugins release.

Changes

  • Atomic frontmatter updates with stale-preview protection and preservation of user-owned fields, comments, nested YAML and Markdown body.
  • Correct string identifiers and empty lists; invalid or ambiguous YAML is rejected rather than guessed.
  • Shared-note conflicts block every affected game; filename allocation handles colliding sanitized identifiers.
  • Previews are invalidated after configuration/template changes and runtime shutdown.
  • PlayStation adapters share authentication state, preventing late refresh/connect responses from restoring a disconnected session.
  • Background approval and scheduler/setup lifecycle safeguards.
  • Reduced full-vault reads and embedded third-party license notices.

Verification

  • Local and GitHub Actions checks passed: 562 tests passed, 1 fixture-dependent test skipped; lint, typecheck, build and release gate passed.
  • Anonymous GameTrack import/update tested in isolated Obsidian 1.14.4: idempotent imports, user-content preservation and stale-preview rejection.
  • Authenticated Steam/PSN flows, other desktop platforms and Obsidian 1.13.7 still need end-to-end testing before a stable release.
