This is brief info about current system I have in my home. Currently I’m using MythTV master with very good stability and performance. For some quantitative measure I done recording performance tests. For ongoing 16 concurrent HD recordings, my central server:
- 35-38% CPU load measured on active core (it is normalized to full load on both cores = 200%).
- Server power consumption is average 75-80W at AC wall.
- Intel DH67BL mainboard
- Intel i3 3220T CPU
- 8GB of DDR3 RAM
- 2x 4TB WD HDD
- 1x 8TB Segate HDD
- 1x SSD disk for OS/swap
- 2x DvbSky s952 dual DVD-S2 sat tuners
- 1x Cinergy DVB-C cable tuner
I paid high attention to server power consumption as it is home component running 24/7 at 365 days in year. Using efficient Intel main board (Intel DH67BL) and low power i3 Intel CPU (3220T) I was able to achieve following server power consumption:
- Server idle: 270-280mA at 220V AC = 59-62W
- Payback of recording on one remote frontend: 290mA = 64W
- LiveTV session on 1 remote frontend: 300mA = 66W
- 1 playback and 1 LiveTV on 2 remote frontends: 320mA = 70W
- 1 playback, 1 recording and 1 LiveTV: 335mA = 74W
- 1 playback, 2 recordings and 1 LiveTV: 350mA = 77W
- 1 playback, 3 recordings and 1 LiveTV: 360mA = 79W
- 1 playback, 4 recordings and 1 LiveTV: 360mA = 79W
