Inkling 1.20.2
Fixed
- Edit logos, navigation, and footers beside the current page, then select another page element without leaving the designer.
- Keep page drafts while editing shared details, with Save, Keep editing, and Discard recovery.
- Open Catalog from Pages and manage the inventory from Books under Content.
- Protect shared drafts during keyboard saves and prevent page/shared writes from overlapping.
- Keep phone save controls within the viewport.
Verification
373 tests passed, one environment-dependent test skipped. Type checks, formatting, and documentation checks passed. Verified selection, save recovery, delayed saves, and phone controls in the browser.
1.20.1
Fixes Safari preview selection, double-click editing, and element context menus using an isolated editor bridge. Host scripts remain disabled and the preview cannot access the admin session.
Preview controls show a recoverable startup error, and closing an element conversation restores focus after the preview refreshes.
Verification: 371 automated tests passed; type checks, formatting, and documentation checks passed. Native Safari and Chrome interaction checks passed. No migrations.
Inkling 1.20.0
Editing where you point
- Double-click page content to open its controls.
- Right-click or use Actions for editing, section movement, visibility, and collection shortcuts.
- Ask Inky from an element to open a conversation beside it with that exact field, section, or shared source as context.
- Shared edits offer Save and switch, Keep editing, and Discard and switch. Failed saves preserve work and keep their error visible on phones.
- Nested shared parts can expose independent image controls, such as a membership badge inside an announcement.
No migrations or required host configuration changes. Existing visual and shared manifests gain the contextual actions. Hosts can add narrower shared parts for independently editable elements.
Verified locally: 368 tests passed; one Postgres test deferred to CI. Type checking, formatting, and documentation validation passed.
Inkling 1.19.0
Added
- Hosts can register shared website parts with
createInkling({ website }).
Editors can select a header, footer, or other shared area in the actual page
and change its existing menu, entry fields, or settings in one place.
Saves show their result, preserve failed edits, and remain accessible on phones. - Menu links can be chosen by page title. Connected chats can discover shared
areas and create menus using the host's declared handle. - Provider settings include a Test Inky check that verifies the model can call
an editing tool. The check uses synthetic data and makes no site changes.
Fixed
- Delivered menus resolve entry references to their published website addresses.
Draft, deleted, and inaccessible targets are omitted instead of becoming broken
links. Existing URL links are unchanged. - Inky receives the host's shared-area map, so it can find the actual source of
navigation, footer details, and other connected elements. - Interrupted or empty responses leave a persistent explanation in the chat.
Applied changes refresh the open editor, and unsaved edits must be handled
before applying a proposal so an old form cannot overwrite the result. - Guides distinguish connecting an existing ChatGPT account from provider setup
for hosted Inky. Hosted sign-in requires provider approval.
Inkling 1.18.2
Visual page headings now support guided italic and line-break controls, preserving formatting without exposing markup to editors. Sites opt in per field through the visual manifest.
Verified with the full release checks, saved-page rendering, required-field errors, and desktop and phone editing.
Inkling 1.18.1
Fixes visual section rendering compatibility with sites that enable strict unchecked-index validation. Rendering and saved layout behavior are unchanged.
Includes the visual page editor and save reliability improvements introduced in 1.18.0.
Inkling 1.18.0
Added
- Connected sites can offer an actual-page editor: select text or pictures,
edit with guided controls, preview at phone size, and move or hide declared
sections. Hosts registervisualdefinitions and render them with
inkling/visual; existing sites keep their field editor until connected. - Unsaved snapshot previews show changes without writing to published content.
Preview snapshots expire within an hour and can expire earlier after a
restart or when the bounded preview store fills. - Inky can read supported page sections and propose their order or visibility.
Catalog inspection supports pagination and selected fields, including
availability. Embedded sites can invalidate caches usingcontentVersion(). - Connected chats can discover the same supported page sections through the
read-onlyget_visual_pagestool and apply layouts through ordinary entry saves.
Fixed
- Failed saves and deletions stay in the editor with an explanation; failed
deletion no longer navigates away as though it succeeded. Inky shows apply
errors on the proposal and stops a batch at the first failure. - Inky rejects unknown field keys and invalid content before offering a
change. Entry reference pickers support exact web-address lookups, and
catalog lists distinguish availability from publishing status. - Existing-page previews no longer save live content automatically. Taking
content off the website does not require saving unrelated unfinished edits.
Inkling 1.14.1
Corrects outdated bundled-plugin counts in the README, guides, and tutorial after Square was added in 1.14.0.
Includes the Ecommerce and Square integration from 1.14.0: Square account linking, live catalog and inventory, editorial shop pages, and Square-hosted checkout. Square remains disabled until configured; a real Sandbox payment test is still required before enabling production checkout.
Validation: 302 local tests passed; type checking, formatting, and documentation checks passed. The 1.14.0 Postgres CI suite passed all 306 tests.
Inkling 1.14.0
Ecommerce now includes shop introductions and product pages. The optional Square plugin connects a merchant account, reads current prices and stock, and creates Square-hosted checkouts from an Inkling storefront.
Square owns products, prices, stock, payments, and orders. Inkling owns the storefront copy and photos. Guided setup, recent orders, encrypted credentials, and a storefront integration guide are included.
This first version supports fixed-price physical goods and flat-rate shipping. Checkout does not reserve stock. Square stays disabled on existing sites; configure a Square application and complete a Sandbox payment test before opening production checkout. Real Square payment verification was not run for this release because application credentials were unavailable.
Also fixes plugin single-page navigation and stale editor state when changing content types.
Validation: 302 local tests passed, type checking, formatting, documentation checks, and browser review. Both CI jobs passed, including the Postgres integration tests.
Inkling 1.13.0
Plugins in consuming projects can now import their definition, types, and route guards from inkling/plugins. The existing plugin system remains compatible.
The documentation covers installation, route permissions, secret settings, lifecycle behavior, searchable Help, and the account menu. Inkling School is updated separately for nontechnical editors.
Validation: 289 local tests passed; type checking, formatting, and documentation validation passed. The Postgres suite and Pages deployment also passed in CI.
