What is new in 0.47:

  • EWEB.PRG started on an ST (or STE) now says that it needs a Falcon or a TT and that EWEBST.PRG is the ST edition, then goes back to the desktop. Before, it stopped with a white screen. (The family's common/atari/cpucheck.c.)
  • The ST edition's code is checked for word and long accesses at odd stack addresses (an address error on a 68000): none found. (The family's new check.)
  • The family's shared code and the Pi gateway copy updated (comments and tests only).

Speed on the stock machines (the guidelines' times are not yet met; this work goes on): on the stock Falcon (TOS 4.04) the start is 3.5 s, the home page 0.7 s, a page scrolled 1.1 s; on the 8 MHz ST the start is 17 s. The next release cuts the ST's home page from 10.5 s to 9.2 s.
