Wishy Browser v4.2.1

A major update focused on performance, usability, privacy, and design. This release introduces a built-in download manager, full-screen browsing, flexible toolbar positioning, and a refreshed Wishy Blue design for Android TV.

Built-in Download Manager

A new download system powered by OkHttp 4.12.0.

  • Background Downloads: Download files while using other apps with background and foreground services (dataSync).
  • Full Download Control: Pause, resume, cancel, and retry downloads.
  • Connection Recovery: Resume supported downloads after connection drops.
  • Progress Notifications: Track downloads without opening the browser.
  • Privacy First: Cookies are read live per request and never saved to disk.
  • Secure Redirects: Redirects are sanitized and HTTPS-to-HTTP downgrades are blocked.
  • Session Cleanup: Download history is cleared along with session data.
  • User Consent: Added an "Ask before downloading" setting.

Full-Screen Mode

A cleaner browsing experience with more screen space.

  • Hide the toolbar and system bars completely.
  • Enable full-screen mode from Settings > Layout.
  • Reveal the floating toolbar by:
    • Dragging inward from the screen edge.
    • Pushing the D-pad pointer against the screen edge.
    • Pressing SEARCH.
    • Holding MENU.

Flexible Toolbar Positions

Choose where the browser toolbar appears.

  • Four Layout Options: Top, Bottom, Left, and Right.
  • Side Rails: Left and right layouts use a compact vertical icon bar.
  • Address Sheet: Access the address bar through a dedicated sheet in side layouts.

Wishy Blue Design Refresh

A refreshed visual identity built around Material 3 Expressive design.

  • Brand Color: New signature blue palette centered around #0166FF.
  • Typography: Plus Jakarta Sans for the interface and Bagel Fat One for headings.
  • Responsive Clock: Automatically scales to fit the home screen.
  • Minimal Interface: Removed unnecessary in-app logo clutter for a cleaner browsing experience.

Includes 15 built-in privacy protections:

  • Ad and tracker domain blocking.
  • Cookie banner hiding.
  • Third-party cookie blocking.
  • Tracking link cleaning.
  • Referrer stripping.
  • GPC and DNT headers.
  • Fingerprint noise.
  • HTTPS upgrades.
  • Additional privacy protections.

Installation

Download app-release.apk from the Assets section below and install it on your Android TV or compatible streaming device.

Important: If your previous installation was signed with the debug key, uninstall the old version before installing this release signed with the new key.
