⚠️ BREAKING CHANGES

proper vite 8 support (c3ba078)

Vite 8 (rolldown) rejects function-based rollupOptions.external, which
vite-plugin-externalize-deps sets. Dropped the plugin in favor of hand-rolling
the list. I believe this makes it no longer compatible with vite 7.
