This release of BronnBakes Timer brings significant improvements to the app's background functionality, especially on power-saving devices like the Huawei P30.

Key Enhancements:

  • Foreground Service Integration: To ensure the alarm works reliably in the background, especially on devices with aggressive power management, we've implemented a Foreground Service in the app.
  • Notification Support: We've added notification capabilities, complete with a custom icon, enabling the app to run persistently in the background.
  • Dependency and Codebase Updates: The app now runs on the latest versions of its dependencies, and the codebase has been tidied following lint recommendations.
  • Refactoring for Maintainability: Code has been reorganized into separate files for easier management and future development.
  • Improved Error Logging: Enhanced logging and UI reporting mechanisms for better error handling and user experience.
  • Dependency Injection with Koin: For scalable code architecture, we've integrated the Koin library for dependency injection.
  • Repository Pattern Implementation: To facilitate efficient data sharing between the UI and the Foreground Service, particularly for timer countdown progress.
  • Timer Tick Logic Overhaul: The logic has been completely revamped for efficiency, accompanied by comprehensive unit tests.

Miscellaneous Improvements:

  • Updated the app version from 1.0 to 1.1.
  • Refined the method for retrieving the app version.
  • Expanded the scope of unit testing to cover both new and existing features.
