Summary of discussion

Richard Weedon introducing the issue. The team discussed the questions and the proposed solutions in the following documents https://github.com/wmo-im/BUFR4/files/4825618/BUFR.responses.docx https://github.com/wmo-im/BUFR4/files/4825620/windproflidar-amend-20200624.docx

It was discussed the option to modify existing elements, but it was preferred to create new elements also if this will imply that some existing elements are not going to be used. Richard will provide new elements in the amended document.

It was discussed the proposed header sequence and the use of space and time. It was considered in line with BUFR standard, but not usual and difficult to understand for the final user without futher explanation. Some text will be provided to clarify the use of time in particular and the process used to integrate the observations in the declared interval of time.

The team decided to complete the validation process by 20th July so that the sequence can be included in the fast track. At this purpose the following actions are to be completed by that date

  1. Richard to provide a document with the amended sequence
  2. Xiaoxia to create a branch and implement the sequence
  3. Richard to provide samples
  4. Marijana and Sibylle to perform validation and eventually discuss further changes and explanatory text with Richard
  5. Richard, Marijana and Sibylle to verify that the implementation of the sequence in the gitHub branch is correct
