Tomte Drop for sending files between your PC and your phone, copying text from the screen, a colour picker, call controls, reminders you type in plain words, and shelf sets.
Tip
Tomte is on the Microsoft Store, or winget install 9PG849MLVWZC. That version is signed and keeps itself up to date, so get it there unless you want this file. The two install as separate apps.
Warning
This build is not signed. It carries the same self-signed test certificate as earlier builds, so Windows refuses to install it until you trust that certificate yourself (step 2 below). If you already trusted it for an earlier build, skip that step.
Install
Needs Windows 11 22H2 or later, on x64.
- Download
Tomte_0.3.0.0_x64.msixandTomte-test-certificate.cerinto the same folder. - Trust the test certificate. Open PowerShell as administrator in that folder and run:
Windows will then install anything signed with this certificate. Its private key never leaves the developer's PC, but only do this if you trust this build, and remove the certificate again once signed builds are out.
Import-Certificate -FilePath .\Tomte-test-certificate.cer -CertStoreLocation Cert:\LocalMachine\TrustedPeople
- Double-click
Tomte_0.3.0.0_x64.msixand choose Install. It updates 0.2.2 in place.
Tomte starts hidden, with an icon in the notification area. Push the pointer against the top edge of the screen or press Win+Alt+I to open it.
What's new since 0.2.2
New
- Tomte Drop. Send files between your PC and a phone on the same Wi-Fi. Drag a file to the top edge and pick Tomte Drop, use the phone button on the Shelf (for a selection or a saved set), or pick Receive from phone in the tray menu. Scan the code: the phone gets a page to download what you share, one by one or as a zip, and to send files and text back. They land in
Downloads\Tomte Dropand on the shelf. Files go straight over your local network, never through the internet. Closing the card keeps the share running; the Shelf's phone button and the tray bring it back, and Stop sharing ends it. The package opens ports 53320 to 53329 on private networks only; on a network Windows calls Public, the card tells you when the firewall blocks phones. - Copy text from screen, Win+Alt+X. Draw around any text and it is copied. The card can translate it (with your AI key, through MyMemory without one, or in your browser) and gives an Open link button for a QR code.
- Pick a colour, Win+Alt+E, with its hex, RGB and HSL values on the card.
- Calls. While another app uses the microphone, the pill shows a mute button (Win+Alt+U), and a Call tab sets the microphone, the speaker and the call's own volume, and shows when the camera is on.
- Reminders. Type "remind me to call Sam at 5pm" or "remind me every weekday at 9:30 to join stand-up" in the AI box, no key needed. They ring on the island with Snooze and Dismiss, and Settings lists them.
- Shelf. Ctrl+V pastes files, text or an image from the clipboard. Save what's on the shelf as a named set and bring it back later.
- Scratchpad snippets. Type
/in the note to insert a snippet you saved in Settings. - Search finds pinned clipboard items and pastes them.
- Jobs. Approve the steps, sites and apps when a job is made. Jobs can read web pages and use Tomte's own browser, held to the sites you approved, and a Jobs tab shows what runs next.
- Voice card has a Copy button.
Fixes
- The island opens on every monitor when Every monitor is on, at each monitor's scale.
- Timers and reminders play the alarm sound.
- A start shortcut whose program was removed says so instead of failing quietly.
- NVIDIA Broadcast is no longer taken for a call.
- A long name in a per-app rule no longer pushes Add out of the card in Settings (#3).

Remove
- Uninstall Tomte from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Remove the test certificate, in PowerShell as administrator:
Get-ChildItem Cert:\LocalMachine\TrustedPeople | Where-Object Subject -eq 'CN=Tomte Dev' | Remove-Item
- Uninstalling also deletes what Tomte kept: Windows stores an installed app's data with the app and removes it with it. Files a phone sent with Tomte Drop stay in
Downloads\Tomte Drop. - API keys you entered stay in Windows Credential Manager. Remove the entries that start with
Tomte/ai/under Windows Credentials.
Good to know
- This build does not update itself. New builds will show up on this page.
