Crash reports

Options has a new "Send crash reports" row, off until you tick it. With it on, when the game crashes or freezes, the next time you start it, it sends the crash log to the developers along with that game's recording, settings (including your player name) and saves. The recording lets the crash be replayed exactly as you played it, which is usually what it takes to find and fix it. Hover over the row to see what a report carries.

  • Every different crash is sent. The same crash is sent once per version of the game, so a crash loop doesn't send dozens of copies.
  • The recording is compressed before it goes, so a report is usually well under a megabyte.
  • Your Windows user folder shows as ~ in the log.
  • Nothing is sent while the box is unticked, and sending happens in the background without slowing the game's start.
  • It uses the curl that comes with Windows 10 and later and with Linux; a PC without it sends nothing.

A copy of the game built from source without the project's crash report address shows the row greyed out, with a note saying why.
