First release of rutools: a lightweight uTools-style launcher for Windows, written in Rust with NSH (Win32 + Direct2D, no WebView, no JS engine).

Features

  • Alt+Space to show / hide; borderless, top-most, hides when it loses focus
  • Search by name, full pinyin (wangyiyun), initials (wyy, vsc) or a mix (wangyy); frequently used apps rank higher
  • Sources: Start Menu, Desktop (top level), common system tools
  • Pinned apps as a tile grid when the box is empty (Ctrl+P to pin, right click a tile to unpin)
  • Pin button: keep the window on screen, then drag files / folders in to make them searchable and pinned (Ctrl+Delete removes one)
  • Tray icon: start with Windows, rescan apps, open the data folder, quit

Requires Windows 10 1809+ or Windows 11 (x64). The binary is not code-signed, so SmartScreen may warn on first run ("More info" → "Run anyway").
