Reliability release. No changes to capture, OCR, or your settings.

The app now repairs its own "start with Windows" entry. If the registered startup command pointed at a build that had been moved, cleaned, or reinstalled, Windows silently started nothing — and the hotkey appeared to "stop working", because whatever else claims Win+Shift+T (Windows 11 Snipping Tool's text extraction, PowerToys Text Extractor) got it instead. On launch WinTextCapture now checks that entry and, if its target no longer exists, points it at the running executable. An entry pointing at a different copy that still exists is left alone. The Settings checkbox reads the real registry state instead of a stored flag, and a failed registry write is reported instead of silently ignored.

Crash diagnostics that survive the crash. %APPDATA%\WinTextCapture\error.log now records the original exception with a UTC timestamp, the app version, and whether it was recoverable — appended rather than overwritten, and capped in size. Previously the log could capture a secondary failure and lose the real cause entirely.

One instance per user, not per machine. The single-instance guard was machine-wide, so on Fast User Switching or RDP a second user's launch exited with no tray icon and no message. It is now session-scoped.

Builds are identifiable. The assembly is stamped with its version (shown in About). Earlier builds, including the v1.0.1 release, all reported 1.0.0.0.

The download below is a self-contained single-file build — no .NET install required.
