Not sure which? → About This Mac. Apple silicon says "Chip: Apple M…";
anything that says "Processor: Intel" wants the Intel build.
Install: open the DMG and drag MacCV onto Applications.
The disk image is signed and its contents verified before packaging;
macOS still asks for confirmation the first time because it is not yet
notarized.
Every file's checksum is in SHA256SUMS on this release.
Added
- Paste without the clipboard. Choosing it from an entry's context menu sends
the text to the frontmost app as synthetic keystrokes, so the content never
enters a pasteboard and no other process can read it. Requires the Accessibility
permission, is slower than a pasteboard round trip, and works for text only —
so it is off by default and offered as a choice. - Sensitive-content masking. Card numbers, API keys, tokens, JWTs, private
keys, credentialed connection strings, email addresses and ID numbers are
redacted when an entry is recorded, not only when it is drawn. Explicit
signals — a concealed or transient pasteboard entry, a private key — mark
content as never-recorded instead. - Entries other apps marked concealed are skipped. Password managers set this
marker precisely so their contents are not retained; honouring it relies on a
stated intent rather than a text heuristic. - In-app updates. Checks a published feed, then on install verifies the
SHA-256, verifies the code signature, and only then clears the quarantine
attribute — which is what prevents the "MacCV is damaged and can't be opened"
dialog. An update whose signature does not validate is reported as such and left
quarantined. MacCV does not replace its own running bundle. - Settings window with General, Privacy, Updates and About tabs.
- Bilingual interface. English and Simplified Chinese, following the system
language by default and switchable in Settings. - Website at https://yxxbc.github.io/Maccv/, bilingual, which also serves the
update feed.
Changed
- The project's public address is now the website rather than the repository; the
homepage link and documentation links point there.

First release. MacCV is a menu-bar clipboard manager that treats the macOS
pasteboard as it actually is: multi-item, multi-format, and worth preserving
exactly.
Added
- Full-type pasteboard support. Reads and writes every type macOS defines,
including RTF, RTFD, HTML, PNG, TIFF, PDF, file URLs, colors, sounds, fonts and
rulers, plus arbitrary custom UTIs. A single copy carrying several
representations keeps all of them, so it can paste into whichever target app
asks for something specific. - Lossless replay. A captured snapshot is rewritten byte-for-byte, so pasting
into the originating app reproduces the original formatting rather than an
approximation of it. - Multi-item fidelity. A three-file Finder copy stays three items instead of
collapsing into one entry. - Change watching with adaptive polling. Detection begins at a 400 µs interval
so a copy is noticed almost immediately, then backs off to 250 ms while the
pasteboard is idle. An idle MacCV costs no measurable CPU. - Menu-bar panel with live previews, search, restore, paste-as-plain-text and
per-entry removal, built with SwiftUI for macOS 27. - Rust engine linked as a static library. No IPC, no serialization step, no
helper process. - macOS 27 pasteboard authorization handled explicitly. When the system denies
access, the engine reports it and the panel explains it, instead of retrying. - C ABI with a generated header.
maccv.his produced by cbindgen at build
time and drives the Swift bridging header. --self-testmode that exercises the Swift → C ABI → Rust path end to end
and exits non-zero on failure, so CI can verify the integration and not just the
compile.
Notes
- Requires macOS 27 or later.
- Clipboard history is in-memory only; it does not survive relaunch yet.
- The app is not sandboxed. Nothing leaves the machine.
