DuckDB connections. DuckDB is bundled, so nothing needs installing. The
sidebar lists the file's own database and any attached ones above their
schemas. Database files open from File, Open, by dropping them on the
window, from the command line and from the file manager, and SQLite and
DuckDB files are told apart by their contents, whatever the extension.
File, New creates either kind
CockroachDB connections, with their own icon and connection form. Query plans, the process list,
function completion and signature help work as on PostgreSQL. A table
without a primary key can be edited through its hidden rowid. Structure
changes are not applied atomically, as CockroachDB commits each DDL
statement, and the preview says so. There is no backup
Each backend's SQL is highlighted and parsed with a grammar of its own, so
syntax a database adds to standard SQL is understood where it applies
Process List in a connection's menu, or a database's Process list in the
command palette, shows the server's sessions with their user, database,
state, duration and query, refreshed by hand or on an interval. Cancel
Query and Kill Session ask first, warn on PROD and are refused on read
only connections. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB and CockroachDB do both, SQL
Server can only kill and ClickHouse can only cancel
Structure changes are staged. Adding, changing or dropping a column, index
or foreign key adds a pending change, and the lists show the table with
those changes applied and marked, so a new column can be indexed before
anything runs. Each change can be undone from its row. Apply shows every
statement first and runs them as one batch, in one transaction where the
database can roll DDL back. Discard drops them all, and a tab with
pending changes asks before it closes
Explain now shows the estimated plan without running the statement on
every database. Explain Analyze, in the toolbar's Explain menu and the
command palette, runs it and shows actual rows and timings on PostgreSQL,
MySQL, MariaDB, DuckDB and SQL Server. SQL Server scripts are split on GO
lines, and GO 5 repeats a batch
Copy as HTML and Export as HTML write rows as an HTML table, which pastes
as a table into documents and email. The export dialog offers HTML too.
The cell menu groups its copy and export entries into Copy as, Copy Column
and Export as submenus
Ctrl+C (Cmd+C on macOS) on the results grid copies the selection: a cell's
value, selected rows as TSV with a header row, or a selected column's
values one per line. It can be rebound as Copy Selection under Data
The run's log line and query history show execution time and fetch time
separately from the total
The sidebar shows each database's size. PostgreSQL and SQL Server show it
on each database, the others on the connection
Keyword completion suggests what fits where the caret is: INTO after
INSERT, SET after UPDATE and a table, the clauses that may follow FROM,
WHERE, GROUP BY or ORDER BY, and so on. Keywords only some databases know,
such as RETURNING, TOP, ILIKE and LIMIT, are offered only on those
PostgreSQL hstore columns show as key: value pairs, and expanding a
cell opens an editor where pairs are added, changed and removed
Highlight Invisible Characters in the Editor settings, on by default, boxes
characters that look like nothing or a plain space, such as a pasted
no break space. Show Invisible Characters in the Results settings, off by
default, marks them in cells, naming zero width characters (ZWSP, BOM) and
control characters by code point
An empty field in the query parameters dialog binds NULL. Clear empties every field and forgets the tab's
remembered values
Charts show their value axis, and the first column of a result can be
charted

Changes
The STAGING environment tag is now STAGE. Imported connections that say
STAGING get STAGE
Text field placeholders no longer end in an ellipsis, and the table menu's
Rename, Truncate and Drop use the ellipsis character like other menus
Fixes
PostgreSQL connections with SSL mode Preferred or Required failed before
trying to connect
PostgreSQL user names, passwords, database names and certificate paths
holding characters such as @, /, :, # or spaces are sent as typed
A connection the server closed, or a PostgreSQL session an administrator
ended, fails one query and reconnects on the next run. Each query also
saves a round trip on PostgreSQL and MySQL
Clicking into a tab no longer opens its connection, or reconnects one that
was closed while idle, to fetch functions for signature help
A closed database or folder in the sidebar could open again when another
database connected
The CSV options in the export dialog were cut off below the Delimiter
labels
Export as TSV from the cell menu wrote nothing
Scrolling a result with large text values stalled. Cells format only the
part of a value the grid can show
A column in two foreign keys was listed twice, and as part of a primary
key it was matched twice when saving grid edits. SQL Server paired the
columns of a composite foreign key wrongly
Running an unfinished WITH query sends the whole statement, not just the
CTE body
DuckDB's read_csv and other table functions with many options showed a
signature of dozens of parameters. Their options are now one trailing
parameter, and the signature help popover stays inside the window
Relationship lines in the schema graph were invisible with every bundled
theme
Agents in a tab's terminal pane work on their own tab, and run_tab goes
through the same write policy as run_sql
The completion menu flickered while deleting
Text in a cell moved a pixel when editing started
Dialog backdrops are fitted to the window
The command palette button sat a pixel high in the title bar
