Zerion 3.0.18 makes contacts find each other again after an address change, gives every new private group keys of its own, and brings a redesigned chat, group and channel experience.
New
- Private groups with their own keys. Every group created from now on gives each member a key made for that group alone, so members who are not your contacts cannot recognise you in another group; contacts still can. Groups created before keep working and say so. Joining incognito is offered for new groups only.
- Groups. Authors can delete a post for everyone and reply with a quote. The group owner can let members invite their own contacts (off by default), while the owner's phone stays the only signer of the membership. Your own posts show waiting, sent and delivered.
- Channels. Posts are full-width cards and comments read like a chat. Members see when a channel was last updated, and comments, reactions and deletes written while the owner is away are sent once the channel can be reached. The channel settings screen offers member management, delete for everyone and a safety code that covers the whole identity.
- Messages. Every message shows sending, waiting to send, sent, delivered or not sent, with Retry, Edit and Delete with Undo. One selection bar offers Reply, React, Copy, Delete and More everywhere, and a selected message is shown by tinting its own bubble. Photos and videos from groups and channels open in Zerion's own viewer, held in memory only.
- Appearance and accessibility. A new theme foundation, home lists with a connection indicator, layouts that work with the largest system font, and full TalkBack support for messages and status changes.
- Tor and bridges. Tor 0.4.9.14 with OpenSSL 3.5.9. The obfs4, snowflake and meek transports (lyrebird 0.9.0) are now built from the signed upstream source in this repository. The built-in bridges were refreshed, snowflake and meek are used only after you agree, and an installation that uses the built-in bridges can fetch a newer, signed bridge list over Tor.
Fixed
- Reconnecting. Contacts that stopped seeing each other some days after one of them changed address now find each other again; an old address is retired only once every contact has moved, and the network settings list the contacts a change still waits for.
- Client authorization. Credentials are kept instead of cleared after seven days, and the exchange is repaired automatically from either side.
- Exit. Opening Zerion again after Exit no longer crashes when the system kept the old process alive in the background (#43).
- Wallet. The Monero library is rebuilt on OpenSSL 3.5.9.
- Links. Zerion links are recognised in any letter case.
1:1 chats and channels work with contacts on 3.0.14 to 3.0.17. New private groups need 3.0.18 on every member's phone; the iOS app cannot join them yet. Groups created before 3.0.18 keep working with every version.

release-manifest-3.0.18.json records these values together with the hash of every native library in the APK and the environment it was built in. SHA256SUMS.txt covers the attached files.
The APK was built from a fresh clone of the v3.0.18 tag and signed with the same key as every previous release. fdroid build --test --on-server com.professor.zerion:31800 in registry.gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidserver:buildserver-trixie produces the same unsigned payload: apksigcopier compare against this APK passes and every entry is identical.
Full notes for every release are in CHANGELOG.md.
