Bug Fixes

TL;DR

Improve IMAP reliability, compatibility, and protocol compliance:

  • Fixes parsing, response formatting, authentication, mailbox operations, flags, and COPY/MOVE notifications.
  • Corrects search behavior for boolean expressions, headers, sent dates, and messages marked \Deleted.
  • Enforces literal size and count limits before accepting data, reducing memory exhaustion risks.
  • Expands regression coverage for protocol edge cases, notifications, IDLE, and quotas.

New config:

  • imap.maxLiterals: maximum literal segments per command; defaults to 1000. Set 0 to disable the count limit; cumulative size limits still apply.
  • imap.socketTimeout / imap.preAuthSocketTimeout: inactivity timeouts in milliseconds. Defaults are 30m 37s authenticated and 5m 37s before authentication.
  • migrations.database.messagesSearchableBackfill: optional repair for older messages missing the searchable field. Disabled by default; scans the messages collection when enabled. Defaults: batchSize = 1000, throttleMs = 100.
