mini-spec v4.0.1

Fixes and one small feature, from the ark project's reports against v4.0.0. Nothing to convert:
a v4.0.0 project upgrades by installing.

Fixed

  • A design document with no final newline no longer refuses writes. update add-gap,
    update retire and update add-req glued the new line onto the last one and their read-back
    refused the write (Gaps.Add … did not read back). Every writer now ends an unterminated last
    line first.
  • update retire writes both files or neither. It used to write requirements.md before
    design.md, so a refused gap write left a requirement marked (Retired Tn …) with no Tn gap,
    and the next retire handed out the same number. Both edits are now rendered and read back
    before either file is touched. The next Tn counts the retired markers as well as the gaps,
    and query next-id gap answers by the same rule.
  • add-gap and retire place entries by ### subsection. In a Gaps section grouped under
    ### headings, a new entry goes after the last gap of its letter; else at the end of the
    subsection whose heading names its type (Oversights (On), Design → Code, …); else at the
    section head. Before, every entry landed under the last subsection.

New

  • Scripts with no extension are read by their #! line. #!/bin/bash, #!/usr/bin/env python3 and the like now choose the shell, Python, Lua or JavaScript table, so a script's
    traceability comments count. An interpreter the tool does not map is reported unread, never
    guessed at.

  • files in [[languages]]. Name files by path or pattern (files = ["install/linkapp", "bin/*"]), and attach them to a built-in table by name:

    [[languages]]
    name = "shell"
    files = ["install/linkapp"]
  • pending finish --resolve closes the gaps a carve part's title names, as it already did
    for an item queued from a gap. A part naming gaps now needs --resolve or --no-resolve.
