Zync v2.22.4
Release Notes — Zync v2.22.4
Release date: 2026-08-07
What's New
Zync v2.22.4 is a brand polish and terminal UX patch. It ships a cohesive free-floating app mark, softer indigo hairline, themed About hero, and two terminal fixes users hit every day: ghost text sitting on the wrong row, and Ctrl+P failing to open the command palette while the shell is focused.
Highlights:
- New brand kit and OS/app icons — free-floating dark plate, soft indigo ring,
>_glyph - Splash and title-bar marks use the shared
ZyncMarkgeometry (plated splash, bare chrome) - About hero uses a themed ring mark with a light accent wash on the tilt card
- Ghost suggestions align to the real cursor row when line height is greater than 1
- Ctrl+P / Ctrl+Shift+P open the command palette reliably in the terminal (same path as Ctrl+I)

Added
- Brand asset kit — Canonical SVGs under
assets/: app mark (logo-icon.svg), legacy backup, square and circular variants, wordmark/horizontal lockups (light + dark), monochrome marks, and banner art for marketing/YouTube. (60fc375) ZyncMark— Shared mark component withbare/borderless/ringframes and theme or brand color variants for in-app chrome. (b5d1e3d)
Changed
- App icon — Desktop and mobile bundled icons (
src-tauri/icons/**,public/icon.png) use the free-floating rounded dark plate with indigo hairline ring and>_glyph. Cargo rebuilds when core icon files change (build.rs). (60fc375) - Splash — Boot splash and React fallback use a themed plated mark (panel + accent plate, accent ring and chevron, text underscore) with vignette, wordmark-style title, and a loading arc on the fixed logo ring path. Theme tokens only (no hardcoded brand indigo on splash). (b5d1e3d)
- Title bar mark — Top-left chrome uses background-less (
bare) monochrome geometry viaZyncMark, themed with accent. (b5d1e3d) - Brand hairline softness — Logo SVGs, banner mark, and regenerated OS icons use a softer indigo plate ring (
stroke-opacity0.35) so the border matches the pre-rebrand banner rather than a full-bright indigo edge. (688a927) - About mark — Settings → About hero uses themed
ZyncMarkwithframe="ring"(dark product plate, theme-accent ring at 70% opacity) and a light accent wash on the outer tilt card. (688a927)
Fixed
- Ghost overlay vertical alignment — Inline ghost text no longer sits several rows above the caret when terminal
lineHeightis greater than 1. Cell width still comes from.xterm-char-measure-element(subpixel); cell height uses viewportscreenHeight / rowsbecause char-measure usesline-height: normaland underestimates real xterm row pitch. (a901e71) - Terminal Ctrl+P command palette — While the terminal is focused, Ctrl+P / Ctrl+Shift+P open the command palette via xterm custom key handlers (same reliability as Ctrl+I). Global shortcuts use
zync:open-command-palette(the old event name was a no-op), skip palette/AI chords when xterm is focused to avoid double-fire, and listen forzync:ai-command-barso terminal Ctrl+I still toggles the AI sidebar. (18fe3b9)
Quick check after upgrade
- App icon — Restart Zync (or reinstall). Taskbar/dock icon should show the free-floating mark with a soft indigo ring (not a full-bright edge, not a full-bleed square).
- Splash — Cold start: plated mark + ring loading arc follow your theme accent.
- About — Settings → About: themed ring mark; ring should stay visible on light and dark themes; outer card is a soft accent wash.
- Ghost row — In a tall terminal with default or raised line height, type so a ghost appears near the bottom. Faded text should sit on the same line as the caret, not 3–4 lines above.
- Ctrl+P — Focus a shell tab, press Ctrl+P. Command palette opens. Ctrl+I still toggles AI. Outside the terminal, palette and other app shortcuts still work.
- Ctrl+Shift+P — Opens palette in command mode (
>).
