special npcs
If you are running your own copy of the game for the first time you might notice that there's not that many items in the shop and some certain minigames are locked out. Well this is because there are NPCs who will arrive as certain requirements are filled. When the NPCs arrive more items will appear in the store or minigames will open up.
Meet the NPCs
The following are the NPCs that are in the game:
Katelyn sells the following healing/restoring/curing items: X-Potion, Senzu, Tonic, GoldOrb. Katelyn will show up when the total number of times players have died (cumulative) is 20+
Myles sells the following shop lowering items: DiscountCard, UltraDiscountCard (when conquest is under player's control). Myles will show up when the total shop level of players (cumulative) is 20+
Gerhardt sells the following battle items: Stop_Watch, Hour_Glass, Holy_Water, Fire_Flower, Ice_Coin, Wind_Vane, Grappling_Hook, Sokubaku, Hankai, MirrorShard, AlexanderMateria, CarbuncleMateria, SolomonRing, LuckyBroth, FenrirMateria, GarudaMateria, IfritMateria, LeviathanMateria, RamuhMateria, ShivaMateria, TitanMateria. Gerhardt will show up when the total number of battles that have been fought in the bot are 100+.
Spoony sells Songsheets and Instruments needed to learn and perform songs. He shows up when the tales of achievements about the players reach a certain amount.
Gondo sells shields of varying size. Once he shows up you can use !shop list shields and !shop buy shield name He will show up when the total number of parries performed by players (cumulative) is 100+.
Dodoh is a special NPC that runs the Wheel minigame. However, he's gone and got himself captured by monsters. After you rescue him, he will open up the game to all players who wish to play. The game costs 500 red orbs per spin and can be played once per 12 hours. To play use !wheel spin and you can check the help at !wheel help.
Setzer is a special NPC that runs the Gambling mini game (Chou-Han). However, he's gone and gotten himself kidnapped by monsters. After you rescue him players will be able to use the !chouhan command. The game is simple, place a bet on whether two dice will add up to an even or odd number. Players can bet as many red orbs as they want, as long as they have the amount on-hand. If they win they will receive double the amount back. Lose and they lose all the red orbs they bet. Commands: !chouhan #amount odd/even such as !chouhan 100 odd – use !chouhan help for more info. The game can only be played once per 24 hours.
Beedle is a special merchant that sells a variety of items and two accessories every month (all of which can be found by using !shop list items when he arrives). He only arrives for 5 days of every month, from the 15th to the 20th. Afterwards he flies off and can't be seen again until the following month. So buy what you need from him quick!
Green Thumb is a special NPC that takes care of the Allied Forces HQ Garden. Sadly, he's gone and gotten himself captured after he went looking for seeds and flowers to help the garden out. After you rescue him, he will allow everyone to contribute to the garden. Use !garden help, !garden plant itemname and !garden status to help the garden out.
Syrup is a special NPC that, upon arriving at the HQ, will unlock the Potion Effect shop. Use !shop list potioneffect or !shop buy potioneffect effectname For more information on this, see the Potion Effects Shop section. She will show up when the number of total Lost Souls killed in the game is 200+. Like the other shop NPCs, this is a group effort so everyone who has killed one contributes towards this total.
Vinz Clortho is a special NPC that, upon being rescued from monsters, will unlock Dungeon Keys in the shop. Use !shop list dungeonkeys or !shop buy dungeonkeys keyname For more information, see the Dungeon section
Bountibox is a strange goblin, who stands next to an even stranger treasure chest. You can use the command !gobbie box open to use 10 of your login points to gain a random item. For more info: use the command !gobbie box help
Vasu is a npc that will allow you to use a second accessory slot in exchange for 10 enhancement point. Once you unlock this, you'll need to use the command: !wear accessory 2 [accessory] to wear one on the second slot.
King of Cups is a strange Cardian that sells trading cards and booster sets. At the moment, he only sells a small amount of cards and only has one booster set.
There's also a few seasonal merchant NPCs that show up under certain conditions in the correct months. I will leave those as a mystery but will note that they sell items mixed in with the various other normal shops (so items/misc/alchemy/etc)
To make things interesting, many of these NPCs can be kidnapped and rescued.
If a player loses a battle there is a percent chance that one of the npcs will be kidnapped at random. On a normal battle there is a 25% chance of it happening. On boss battles and other certain battle types there is a 60% chance of it happening with losses. It is also possible for dragon hunt dragons to leave their lairs and kidnap an NPC under certain conditions.
If an NPC has been kidnapped don't fret! They can be rescued by winning boss battles. On a normal boss win there is a 50% chance of rescuing an NPC. On certain other types of boss battles there is upwards of 70% chance.
