What are the show-stoppers for an alpha1 release?
--Lem9 16:30, 19 September 2014 (CEST)
- Two issues are reported:
- Regression: the new usage of PMA_String (mbstring if present) produces a slowdown
- Confirmed for SQL import
- To be confirmed as an overall issue
- Older problem: the poor performance on servers with thousands of databases, due to querying information_schema
- We want to fix this for 4.3
- Regression: the new usage of PMA_String (mbstring if present) produces a slowdown
- See item 4 of this meeting for a solution
Taking into consideration our new full-time developer, should we participate to GSoC in 2015? What would be the goals?
--Lem9 14:00, 25 September 2014 (CEST)
- We should aim to participate to GSoC 2015, to attract new developers
- At least Isaac, Madhura, Michal and Marc agree to mentor
- Smita might want to participate again as a student
- About ideas, there could be refactoring, more unit testing
- Not sure about new features as our full-time developer is working on them
- So, pages for GSoC 2015 will be created on the wiki, and would-be mentors are welcome to add ideas
Madhura would like to receive team's suggestions on which work need to be prioritized ahead of the others.
--Madhuracj 05:00, 8 October 2014 (CEST)
- In general, priority should go to bug fixing
- In the next coming weeks, a special effort will be done to clear the two issues that block releasing 4.3.0-alpha1
- Be prepared for a possible bug rush after 4.3.0-alpha or -beta are released
