Description
What happened
- Member(s) of 2i2c participate in the working group (namely Jim Colliander)
- Goal is to develop international standard software computing environments for Heliophysics.
- We recently presented our work at two conferences: ML-Helio in Madrid, Spain and DASH/IHDEA in San Antonio, Texas
- We got $2k from NASA SMCE for 2i2c to stand up a JupyterHub with our environments
- Used a shared password to make logging in easy for attendees
- Persistant storage
- Up to 119 GB RAM and 15 CPUs
- Allowed us to both demo our environments and make the point that cloud computing can offer significantly more resources than a typical laptop
Any pull quotes?
- Sorry, no quotes
- Many attendees said our presentations were great and they support our work (e.g. excited to see how far we get in the future towards building shared software environments for Heliophysics)
- But sadly, we advertised a feedback survey and got zero responses
Why is it valuable
- Allows people to experience our Heliophysics-tailored environments in a platforms that's better than the free Binder
