TinyRecorder 1.8.13

Fork of QuickRecorder by lihaoyun6, with macOS 27 compatibility fixes.

What's new in 1.8.13

  • No more .mp4.mp4.mp4 files. With "Record Microphone to Main Track" on and both microphone and system audio recorded, quitting TinyRecorder right after stopping (or while recording) could exit before the audio tracks were mixed, leaving the recording as Recording at ….mp4.mp4.mp4. Quitting now waits for the mix to finish, and any such leftover file in your save folder is renamed to its real name the next time TinyRecorder starts.

Changes vs upstream v1.6.9

  • Fixed: menu bar controls (stop / pause / camera) not responding on macOS 27 (upstream issue lihaoyun6#295)
  • Changed: menu bar icon is now shown by default (new-user friendly; can be disabled in Settings)

Install

Already installed? Use Check for Updates… inside the app — no download, no Gatekeeper warning, permissions are kept.

One-line install (no Gatekeeper warning) — paste into Terminal:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/33to9/TinyRecorder/main/install.sh | bash

Homebrew: brew install --cask 33to9/tap/tinyrecorder

DMG: download TinyRecorder_v1.8.13.dmg, drag TinyRecorder into Applications. The app is not notarized by Apple, so the first launch is blocked once:

  • macOS 15 and later: double-click (a warning appears), then System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down → Open Anyway
  • macOS 12–14: right-click the app → Open

On first launch a short setup guide walks you through the Screen Recording permission (one automatic restart), the optional microphone and the default format.
