Do old Sharrow cache files need to be removed if model specifications change?

If I change a model by adding some new parameters and re-run with sharrow, will the old cache files automatically be updated to reflect these changes? Is there ever a need to remove the old cache files and start from scratch? I'm using the default cache location.

An example of model changes would be adding new parameters to work location like county flow variables.

Will sharrow automatically recompile and pick up these changes? I want to make sure that my model changes are being incorporated by sharrow, and it wasn't clear how the systemwide cache files should be managed when not running in purely production mode. Appreciate any insight that could be shared. Thanks!
