Is it possible to change the queue buttons back? #2181

The old send-to-bottom button, to my knowledge, didn't send a post to the bottom of your queue, it sent it to the bottom of the posts that had been loaded on the page thus far—if I'm right about that, that's kind of confusing, particularly if you have endless scrolling enabled, and probably why Staff didn't remake it? Still, less annoying than clicking the down arrow eleven gazillion times or using the drag handles on posts. Note that in your screenshot the drag handles aren't visible, I believe just because Tumblr's code auto hides buttons when they run out of horizontal space, and having two xkit buttons (well, the less-well-behaved one from old XKit) is taking up space. 
(We may have to move the Quick Tags/Trim Reblogs buttons up out of that row on queued posts; it'll look less clean but I think not removing functionality is the priority here. I won't touch the PostBlock button from the old version of XKit, but you can see why we moved the new version of PostBlock's control UI into the "meatballs" dropdown menu on the top right of posts, avoiding this kind of crowding/layout problem.) About moving the queue control buttons to the top of the post or adding a move to bottom button... I think that would proooooobably be difficult for us to do? Don't quote me on that, though. |

Honestly I do not know what the answer is, just I think it's ridiculous I can have 2000 posts in my queue and no functional way to rearrange them. If I infinite scroll load 2000 posts my laptop will shit a brick and explode LOL Likes used to be numbered pages, like you could go to likes page 20, and it seems like just using more numbers would solve problems. If you were on page 24 of your queue and it refreshed, you wouldn't have to then hit "next" 24 times. You would just be there, like you are on your dash. I can update with what Jason says when support replies, but he'll probably gaslight me first that there was never a way to move posts between pages lol. |

Oh yeah, refreshing the page is bad too. I guess the hypothetical XKit code for "move this post down, off the bottom of this post and on to the top of the next page" would have to be like:
...and to move a post up, off the top of the current page, to the bottom of the previous page:
That's... not elegant, but it might be possible? kind of? ish? |

Well, for clarity, a native implementation of this feature of course wouldn't do that. But if my understanding how how databases work is correct, it would involve writing a bunch of database functions that you wouldn't normally have to write in order to do everything else the Tumblr timeline does—you never normally have to insert posts into a timeline; you never normally have to re-fetch the same location in a timeline but with different content. It's a similar situation with when people want folders of bookmarks of Tumblr posts: if I were the one writing Tumblr from scratch, I wouldn't engineer it in a way that made that kind of thing easy, because 99.9999% of the server requests are for "a whole bunch of posts in order of post time" and so it makes sense to design the system in the way that makes that very efficient and thus cost the least! I'm sure a clever database engineer could integrate a separate "actually I want to store that this specific bunch of posts aren't in that order" system in there with a full, rich set of API endpoints to restructure them and move them around arbitrarily without also making the main timeline nuke the hosting costs for the site, but I dunno who'd be paying for that development time :D |

If you are still seeing this, can you send us a full, uncropped screenshot of what you’re seeing?" I've replied with screenshots since I am still seeing this. Place your bets on if they gaslight me next :P |

I have updates if anyone is curious. Chris told me: "Regarding the post moving buttons, this should be resolved." as you'll remember. Then they said: "This may be an issue with extensions, add-ons, or plug-ins you have installed, including XKit. Can you try temporarily disabling those?" Then they said: "I have escalated this issue to our Engineering team who are currently reviewing this issue. I don't have an ETA of when this will be fixed, but I recommend following our Changes blog to stay in the loop of the latest updates and developments." And then Jason replied with: "It was an intentional omission, but we're looking into bringing it back. 🙂" Do the people working at tumblr talk to each other??? |

I'm not saying it's unreasonable - it's that one person didn't know what others had done. I originally sent screenshots and also links to OTHER people talking about this being an issue for them, and then the person I first got was sitting there trying to run through things like it was a bug specifically on my end when it wasn't. One of the responses said, "Prior to the most recent change, the button interface at the bottom of posts in the queue was different between tumblr.com, the iOS app, and even the Android app, so there was a lot of confusion about a button that did exist in some places, but never existed in others." I just feel bad for the support people who don't even know what changes are being made and then they're trying to troubleshoot. |

I have successfully bullied tumblr into bringing the "send to bottom" button back. I still would prefer them at the top and I do not get why they are showing like/common/reblog buttons on the queue page?? But just as an update. |

The new UI makes a lot more sense without XKit Rewritten's Classic Footer on; Tumblr's note count display of course takes up a whole row of the footer, being 3 separate numbers. The Classic Footer version is only one note count on the bottom left, so there's no reason to have the extra row or the unusable like/reblog/share buttons. It would be a fair bit of work for us to modify the Classic Footer code to do something totally different specifically on queued posts though (and I would worry about running out of horizontal space if a queued post has a really large note count and the user has quick tags and trim reblogs enabled), so I kind of doubt we'll change it? But maybe if people really want it (or if April thinks the current way looks sufficiently stupid? It does look pretty stupid.) |

I also sent a message to suport about this but they changed the buttons on the queue to move posts around. It's kind of annoying they moved them to the bottom because I feel like they were more functional at the top, but they also nuked some functionality
This is my queue on the second page - there's no send to the bottom button. You can send things to the top, but you can only move posts one at a time to the bottom. That's so annoying.
Can xkit change that or nah?
