I hate the phrase "well neither have you". It simply shuts down any conversation once said.
The irony of hypocrisy is that it in itself, it doesn't exist. It is merely a faux-critique that is used to make someone shut up, when in reality it is one's criticism to themselves.
- The first step to a fixing a problem is identifying it, yet it is the the easiest step to overlook. All it takes is the wrong tone of voice, and a switch gets flipped inside of you. It's like being told to clean your room while you are cleaning it
- Probably stems from a lack of acknowledgement of your effort, which kills the will to continue. "If you don't see me trying, then what if I fail?"
- Link to the concept of marginal gains, but how it is also so fragile
