🚀 OmniWM 0.4.9.8 + 0.4.9.9 — Smoother gestures, native Spaces, and a rebuilt core
Two releases dropped today, and together they're one of the biggest quality jumps OmniWM has had. The trackpad finally feels right, OmniWM now plays nicely with macOS's own Spaces, and under the hood the entire state engine got rebuilt for reliability. Here's the tour.
✨ Highlights
🖐️ Momentum trackpad scrolling (0.4.9.8)
Flick across your workspaces and let go — OmniWM now carries the motion with natural deceleration instead of stopping dead. There's a new configurable scroll style, so you can pick momentum for that buttery iOS-style feel or keep the classic snap scrolling (still the default). Post-gesture stray scroll events are suppressed, so no more accidental over-shoot.
🖥️ "Displays have separate Spaces" support (0.4.9.9)
If you run macOS with Displays have separate Spaces turned on, OmniWM now fully understands your per-display Spaces topology. It refreshes that topology as you switch around and — crucially — stops trying to manage windows that are hidden away on an inactive native Space. Multi-monitor setups just got a lot more predictable.
🔄 Rotated & portrait display support (0.4.9.8)
Monitor orientation overrides are now preserved and reported over IPC — portrait and rotated displays are first-class citizens.
🐛 Fixes & polish
⚙️ Under the hood — a rebuilt core (0.4.9.8)
0.4.9.8 quietly shipped a ground-up rewrite of OmniWM's state engine. You won't see it directly, but you'll feel it in fewer glitches and snappier layouts:
WorldStore, mutated through one commit pipeline with topology validated on every commit.Update:
brew upgrade omniwm🙏 As always, feedback and bug reports are hugely appreciated.
