Controls

Strikers Charged was built for the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. This port plays it on a regular controller with Super Mario Strikers' GameCube controls, plus Charged's extras on top. Under the hood it rebuilds the GameCube controller support the engine inherited from SMS, so passing, shooting and the rest go through the game's own GameCube button table, and the moves Charged turned into Wii Remote gestures are back on SMS's buttons.

Face buttons follow Nintendo's layout by position: on a Switch-style controller the labels match, and on an Xbox-style pad they sit where a Switch controller's would (bottom button = B).

Buttons can be rebound per controller in F10 > Controllers (F10 opens the settings window, which also has graphics, audio, Wii Remotes, the Tweaks and mods). Settings are saved to Config.toml straight away.

The game's rumble reaches controllers that can vibrate (GameCube controllers on the adapter too); turn it off in F10 > Controllers > Rumble (Wii Remotes have their own switch, under F10 > Wii Remotes). Where the game wants a pointer, the left stick moves it (with the Menu navigation tweak it jumps between buttons instead); Pointer speed there sets how fast.

Real Wii Remotes use the game's original controls (see Wii Remotes).

GameCube controllers work through the official Wii U / Switch GameCube adapter (WUP-028), or a third-party adapter switched to its Wii U mode. As with Dolphin, on Windows the adapter must be switched to the WinUSB driver once with Zadig. On a real Wii, or in Dolphin, the GameCube controllers pack plays them the same way (Mods).
