RadioMaster+ 1.2.0 — Five feature areas borrowed from Quill Radio

Quill Radio is a free internet radio player built from the ground up for screen reader users. This release brings five of its best ideas into RadioMaster+, adapted to our BASS engine, wxPython UI, and SQLite architecture.

Reliability: Launch Log and Startup Failure Messages

When RadioMaster+ cannot start, it now says why in words. A launch log records everything that happens before the main log begins. If startup fails, one message reads "RadioMaster+ did not start", the reason in plain language, where the log is, and where to report it. Running from inside a zip without extracting is detected and explained.

Live Time-Shift: Jump Back and Forward 15 Seconds

While a live station is playing, Jump Back 15s and Jump Forward 15s buttons on the transport bar let you rewind and catch up within the live buffer. The status bar says how far behind live you are and announces when you are caught up.

Song History

Tools > Song History shows what songs have played on the current station, newest first, with Copy and Search Lyrics on the context menu.

Multi-Source Catalog and Search Fanout

The Sources section adds three new station sources alongside the Radio Browser catalog:

  • SomaFM — listener-supported independent radio (works offline once cached)
  • ACB Media — the American Council of the Blind's ten live streams (fully offline)
  • Internet Archive — searchable public audio collections

Search fans out across all enabled sources; late arrivals append without moving your cursor. Tools > Choose Browse Sources controls which sources appear.

Continue Listening

File > Continue Listening gathers every unfinished podcast episode, audiobook, and local media file into one list, newest first. Resume continues from your saved position; Forget This One zeros the position without touching the file.

Podcast Folders, Unheard Badges, and Per-Show Speed

Organize subscriptions into folders from the context menu. Each show's row carries an "(N unheard)" badge. Mark All as Played marks every unheard episode at once. Per-show speed (Ctrl+Shift+Up and Down) remembers a playback speed for each show without touching the global rate slider.

Catalog Status and Listening Statistics

Tools > Station Catalog Status shows how many stations are stored, when they were last updated, and the refresh schedule. Tools > Listening Statistics shows how long you have listened, counting only actual playing time.

First-Run Wizard

A new copy shows arrow-through welcome pages. Skip leaves in one keystroke and never asks again.
