2.12U iso (old commit) saying "Disc read Error"

so for the past couple of weeks ive been trying to get this to work but it just hasnt no matter what i try.
my console specs are
SCPH-39001
browser 1.20
CD player 1.20
PlayStation driver 1.10
DVD Player 2.12U
the discs ive been using are DVD+R discs that will work if its a movie burned onto it but not with FDVDB.
ive cleaned the laser, tried rebooting, and even unplugging the controller and usb stick (no memory card atm).
can somebody please help me as i want to save my game progress to the USB with apollo.

I have the exact same system, and it'll run DVD games just fine, but when I put in the disc onto which I burned the "Some 2.10 models and all 2.12" version of FreeDVDBoot, it doesn't seem to even attempt to read it and just says "No Data"
