BarTap 1.6.0
A tidy menu bar, live system stats and your AI coding usage, in one small macOS app that never fights you for the mouse.
Install: open BarTap.dmg and drag BarTap to Applications. BarTap is self-signed, not notarized. If macOS blocks the first launch, open System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
New in 1.6.0
- Power. A new stats item: what the charger delivers, what goes into (or out of) the battery, what the whole Mac uses, and the watts of the CPU, GPU, memory, display and Neural Engine. Put any of them in the menu bar, one or several (Settings › Stats › Power › Customize…). Rest the pointer on it for the details: a flow diagram from the adapter or battery to each part, moving as the power moves, the last two minutes, battery voltage, current, temperature, capacity, health and cycle count, the adapter's rating and what it delivers right now, and each app's power and the energy it has used. No administrator password, nothing installed.
- Settings › Layout no longer freezes for a moment. The work behind it moved off the main thread, and it skips the background processes that can't have menu bar icons.
- Sharp, correct icons on the shelf. Each icon is matched to its app exactly (no more icons swapped between apps), empty captures are thrown away, and icons are drawn pixel for pixel at their own size. The shelf and the details windows now glide in and out.
- Lighter. Menu bar figures redraw only when they really change, hidden stats items stop redrawing with several displays connected, and BarTap gives back memory it no longer needs.
