please help / Database storage on new SSD

Hello,

my SSD with OS (C) was to small for Database and its gone ( it was deleted) so I would like to start farming again with new SSD but my Chia GUI try always install the new database and Chia GUI on my old small SSD (C) with OS, how can I change it?

To have the db on a different drive you can follow the steps here:

If the db files have already been deleted then you only need to perform steps 1 and 4:

• stop chia
• update the config.yaml parameters (full_node: database_path: and full_node: peer_db_path:)

NOTE - CHALLENGE in the database_path refers to either mainnet or testnet based on what network you are launching and that nomenclature should be retained. (i.e. use CHALLENGE as it is shown in the default config path)

If you need to get the snapshot to speed up syncing (if your previous db is deleted or corrupt) then use these steps to get that snapshot:

1. Download the torrent file from https://www.chia.net/downloads/#database-checkpoint
2. Use a torrent client to download the full db
3. Unpack/reassemble the torrent file that was downloaded (on windows I used 7zip, Mac and linux have built in tools that work for this)
4. Ensure Chia is stopped then move the db to the correct folder (~.chia\mainnet\db) and update the name to "blockchain_v2_mainnet.sqlite" (removing the date information in the name)
5. Launch chia and wait for a bit (the height to hash and peers files need to be built so this can take upwards of 30 minutes)

Thanks, I'll try it so! I tried to install the program completely again on a new free SSD, but it still accesses the old directories and downloads the database to disk C with OS

Hey @AnSen555 , yes that is expected as using the C drive is the default. Following the steps listed above will change the paths and allow you to use any drive that you choose.
