Compiled Models

Hi Adrian,
My app using CommunityToolkit.Datasync.Client V10.0.0 with OfflineDbContext is rejected by Apple 'Model building is not supported when publishing with NativeAOT. Use a compiled model.' Everything work fine on Windows, Android and when debugging my iPhone but release is always rejected. Is there a way around this?

Hi Adrian,
I let Microsoft Copilot take a look at the code and it returned the below information. I didn't want to try if it wasn't technically possible without having to change part of you libraries code base, which I definitely wouldn't attempt.

The problem is Datasync Offline.
Datasync Offline uses its own internal EF Core context (OfflineDbContext) which:
builds the model dynamically
uses reflection
does not call UseModel()
does not generate compiled models
does not support EF Core’s AOT pipeline
cannot be modified from your app
is not designed for NativeAOT

The MAUI AOT page assumes you control the DbContext.
You do not control the OfflineDbContext — Datasync does.

So even if you follow the compiled‑model instructions perfectly, Datasync Offline will still crash on iOS NativeAOT.

This is confirmed by the Datasync documentation itself, which warns that offline mode has known issues in AOT environments.
