Hello! I’ve actually been working on a similar project over the past year, so it’s really cool to see what you’re building, your work is amazing.
I developed Nomad (same name, funny enough) as an offline media server, which is an area Project Nomad doesn’t seem to focus on as much. It might be interesting to include some media features so people can bring along their favorite movies, shows, books, and music as part of their offline setup.
Jcorp Nomad is also open source, so feel free to take a look at the code if it’s useful at all. Really love what you all are doing! I also have Gallion, which is pretty similar to your project, just a fair bit less developed lol, has some additional features this group might be interested in.
As a quick pitch for anyone interested: Jcorp Nomad costs about $30-$100 to DIY, mostly depending on the SD card size. It’s thumb-drive sized and runs on a simple ESP32-S3, streaming content over Wi-Fi. Users just connect to the hotspot and access everything through a captive portal web app, no setup or installs required for the end user. (works the same as airplane entertainment systems)
Since it runs fully offline (never connects to the internet), getting content onto it is a little more manual. The project is mainly geared toward travel and road trips where you want a tiny self-contained media library for several users at once.
It’s also open source, highly customizable, and supports theming/customization, so feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!
