⚡ optimize download queue lookups in search results#10
Conversation
Optimize the performance of search result display by pre-computing a set of queued item IDs for O(1) membership testing. Previously, the code made repeated O(N) searches through the download queue for each search result, resulting in O(N*M) complexity when displaying N results with M items in the queue. By calling `get_queued_ids()` once before the display loops in `ui/main_window.py` and `ui/tabs/search_tab.py`, we achieve O(N + M) complexity for a measurable speed boost during UI updates. The search result display logic was inefficient because it performed a linear search on the download queue for every item in the search results to check its status. This optimization pre-fetches the set of queued IDs before entering the display loops in
ui/main_window.pyandui/tabs/search_tab.py. This ensures O(1) status checks per item instead of O(M), significantly improving performance when the download queue contains many items. Verified the performance improvement with a benchmark script and ensured functionality remains correct.PR created automatically by Jules for task 16417257317220595116 started by @DeRusto
