Good TV never gets old. The first public release of GenX Streamer: free live TV, a program guide and a public-domain film library for Windows, Android TVs, phones and handhelds.

Highlights

  • Free TV: finds public channels, checks they actually play, and keeps the ones that do.
  • Paid TV: your own provider accounts, kept in your device's protected storage.
  • GenXtra: a public-domain film and TV library with downloads.
  • Program guide, instant replay, captions, and casting to Chromecast and DLNA screens.
  • Pass It Along:
    • send the app phone to phone;
    • share it with everyone nearby, with a QR code or a short six-digit address and no internet needed;
    • install it on a Google TV or Android TV straight from your phone: pick the TV, enter its code, approve on the TV (see it in action).
  • Check for updates: in About, always optional, verified before anything installs.

Check your copy

  • Compare checksums: compare a file's SHA-256 with SHA256SUMS.
  • Android signature: the app is signed with the GenX Streamer release key, SHA-256 464c42785a80bb27022527d7e5b703c4ecf2d62f433a0f9f6b162ee95b7872ff.
  • Windows: the app is unsigned by decision, so SmartScreen may say the publisher is unknown. Choose More info, then Run anyway, after comparing the checksum.

Already have a development copy on Android? It can't be updated by this signed release. Save a full backup in Settings, uninstall it, install this one, then restore.
