Tweaking camera hardware settings from linux

• ubuntu 16 lts has a gui app called "qt v4l2 test utility" that can turn off the auto white balance and auto exposure control, and set exposure as low as 5 out of 20000... Command line equivalent likely there somewhere.

Lens hacks

• there is a post somewhere that says a team puts a dollar store sunglass lens immediately in front of usb camera, to turn down the exposure lower than possible with software settings above. Gives much better results. Link to come.
