Unable to unequip wooden leg

After holding the wooden leg as a melee weapon, I'm unable to unequip it from my hands. Pressing the corresponding inventory slot key, double clicking or clicking the equip button doesn't unequip it. Only moving the wooden leg to a different inventory slot works as a way to unequip it.
