FerMatter 0.11.0 Windows Preview 1 is an unsigned preview for Windows 11 x64.

  • Browse and render LaTeX/Typst equations and TikZ/CeTZ drawings; keep presentation variants separate from project source files.
  • Use Ctrl shortcuts, Windows clipboard images/SVG files, Source editing, Instant and document PDFs.
  • Install for your Windows account with the setup EXE. The installer includes offline WebView2 setup; Node.js, Rust and Python are unnecessary to run FerMatter.
  • Windows code editors use Consolas and the client area fills the native window corners. Library/Source action rows now share the same inset across desktop platforms.

Install and rendering tools

  1. Download FerMatter_0.11.0_windows_x64_preview.1_unsigned_setup.exe and verify its SHA-256 against SHA256SUMS.txt.
  2. Run the installer and open FerMatter from the Start menu. Choose a project folder on first launch.
  3. Install the rendering tools for your projects, then check Settings → Tools:
Projects External tools
Typst / CeTZ Typst CLI; Windows validation used Typst 0.15.1
LaTeX / TikZ TinyTeX or TeX Live with latexmk, preview, pdfcrop, project packages and SyncTeX; Poppler (pdftocairo, pdfinfo)

TinyTeX and TeX Live include the Windows Perl and Ghostscript helpers. See Windows setup and commands and requirements. Existing compiler installations can be selected in Settings; tools are external to the app.

This installer has no Authenticode signature and may trigger SmartScreen or an unknown-publisher warning. Check the release and checksum before deciding to continue; keep Windows security protections enabled. Microsoft's SmartScreen guidance.

Compatibility and limits

  • Saved projects, presentation variants, drafts and settings remain outside the installation folder. Windows application data retains %APPDATA%\Slide Math\Rust Preview\ and the existing bundle identity.
  • Quit FerMatter from its tray menu before installing a newer preview. Updates are manual; this preview has no automatic updater.
  • Windows 10, ARM64 and 32-bit packages have not been validated. This is not a signed stable release.
  • Recoverable project deletion, screen color sampling and local CLI/MCP are unavailable on Windows. Manage project deletion through File Explorer.
  • IME, PowerPoint/cross-application drag and clean-machine compatibility remain unverified. Physical Undo/Redo was not conclusively retested after removal of the Windows native menu accelerators. Use the included synthetic demos to check your workflow.
  • macOS and Ubuntu downloads retain their existing releases and channels. The shared toolbar layout is included in the source; macOS/Ubuntu visual confirmation remains separate from Windows validation.

Windows validation covered all 53 synthetic LaTeX/Typst/TikZ/CeTZ cards, image exports, PDF navigation, Instant/context restoration and source preservation. Native checks confirmed onboarding, automatic tools, Typst cards, copying, PDF navigation/highlight and Source save. Compiler tests and clipboard-format checks do not establish receiving-application behavior.
