Can't Install for VS 2022 Professional

When trying to install in visual studio 2022 professional, I get the message "This extension is not isntallable on any currently installed products." I've copied the full output log below. Judging from the comments on the extensions marketplace page, this has been an issue for at least some users since April 2025.

Since I can't install, I'm not really sure how I'd go about setting up an SSCCE, but I can try to look into this when I get some time. It may not be for several months, possibly longer, but I'll update this with any findings when I do. Also, apologies if this is already reported somewhere, but I couldn't find it if it is.

Suggests to me that you downloaded the 2019 version from the marketplace and not the 2022 version.

If you use Visual Studio Extension Manager UI to install extensions you do not get these issues as incompatible extensions are not displayed.

Thanks for the update. I might suggest that this be made more clear in the documentation/overview pages in the marketplace, or that a more descriptive error message is added when the problem presents itself. Such a change would likely save the community a lot of hassle, both in dealing with these issue reports, and with getting the application up and running.

The information is there and it is there for this purpose and is present on every extension in the marketplace. If you download your vsix from the marketplace and not use the Visual Studio Extension Manager then you should choose carefully.

Yes FCC could probably change its packaging so you do not see two extensions with the name Fine Code Coverage.

Ultimately they are both the Fine Code Coverage extension and the fact that there are two of them strongly suggests that there is an important distinction. Feel free to create a pull request.

You are suggesting to the wrong people, we do not control the installer.
If you speak to Microsoft though they might state that their log is sufficient
